DG Accountancy

QuickBooks Online Accountant UK

Cloud Accounting Accountant UK

Your cloud accounts, clear and current.

You searched for a QuickBooks Online accountant because you want someone who actually knows cloud accounting — not someone who logs in once a year at deadline time. DG Accountancy runs on Xero, which handles UK compliance and MTD better than most alternatives, and Daniel brings 20 years of cross-sector experience to every client. Fixed monthly fee, ACCA-qualified, and questions answered the day you ask them.

  • Cloud bookkeeping set up correctly and kept current each month
  • Your VAT threshold monitored — no surprise registration obligations
  • Tax bill visible well before HMRC sends the reminder
  • One accountant throughout — no juniors, no handoffs, no re-explaining

No long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with clean books and nothing owed.

Sound familiar?

Cloud accounting tool, but still confused by the numbers?

Plenty of business owners sign up to QuickBooks, Xero or another cloud platform and find themselves looking at a dashboard that raises more questions than it answers. The data is there, but it is not reconciled, the categories are wrong, and nobody is monitoring whether you are approaching a VAT threshold or missing a filing deadline. Having the software is not the same as having an accountant who uses it properly.

  • Bank feeds connected but reconciliation months behind and growing
  • VAT threshold approaching with no one keeping an eye on turnover
  • No idea what your actual tax bill will be until it arrives

What properly set-up cloud accounting looks like

Clean books updated every month, deadlines managed as a matter of routine, and a clear picture of where your business stands financially. No year-end scramble. No surprise bills. Just current, accurate numbers and an accountant who flags anything worth knowing about.

  • Reconciliation completed monthly — books current, not a quarter behind
  • VAT turnover tracked continuously — registration obligations flagged early
  • Corporation Tax or Self Assessment liability estimated throughout the year
  • Fixed monthly fee agreed upfront — no hourly rates, no surprise invoices

What business owners say about the service

Clients across the UK — sole traders, limited companies and contractors — share what it is actually like to work with DG Accountancy.

★★★★★

Daniel was very helpful with my books and tax return. He offered great advise and insight in how to manage my books better and more efficiently. His knowledge in tax law and what can be used for expenses really helped with saving money where I could. As a sole trader it’s really hard to keep on top of things and have now asked Dan to do monthly books for me. His rates are extremely good compared to some other accountants out there and I get more for my money.

What you get

Cloud accounting that covers the full picture

From setting up your cloud platform correctly to filing your returns on time, every service is included in a fixed monthly fee agreed before work begins.

01

Cloud Bookkeeping and Bank Reconciliation

Your books are updated every month in Xero, with bank feeds connected and transactions correctly categorised. No more logging in to find months of unreconciled entries waiting for you at year-end. If you are currently on QuickBooks, a migration to Xero is straightforward and handled as part of onboarding.

Included as standard
02

VAT Returns and MTD Compliance

Quarterly VAT returns are filed on time, every time, and your rolling turnover is monitored against the registration threshold. Making Tax Digital requirements are handled as a matter of routine — nothing falls through the gaps. If you are not yet VAT-registered but approaching the threshold, you will know about it with enough time to plan.

Included from Operate tier
03

Year-End Accounts and Tax Filing

Statutory accounts, Corporation Tax return and Companies House filing are all covered, with your liability estimated throughout the year rather than disclosed at the last moment. For sole traders, Self Assessment returns are prepared from the same cloud records, so the year-end process is considerably less painful than starting from a spreadsheet.

What clients say

Consistent feedback across different client types

Sole traders, limited company directors and self-employed professionals across the UK have each described a broadly similar experience: fast, clear and without the usual complications.

★★★★★

Turned Around Quickly, No Corners Cut

“I worked with Daniel at DG Accountancy to review and sign off my sole trader accounts for a time-sensitive mortgage application, and the service was excellent. Daniel was extremely responsive, clear, and professional throughout. He understood exactly what the lender required, turned everything around very quickly without cutting corners. Communication was straightforward and reassuring, which made a potentially stressful part of the mortgage process much easier. Fees were transparent, turnaround was fast, and the work was done thoroughly and accurately. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Daniel to anyone needing reliable accountancy support, particularly where deadlines really matter.”

Why DG Accountancy

Why clients switch to us from bigger firms

The advantages are fairly specific. Here is what makes the most practical difference.

☁️

Cloud-native from day one

Everything runs through Xero — bank feeds, invoicing, VAT submissions and year-end preparation. If you have been using QuickBooks and want to migrate, or you are starting from scratch, the setup is handled during onboarding. You get real-time visibility into your numbers without chasing your accountant for a report.

Questions answered the same day

DG Accountancy is known for fast replies. You will not wait days for an answer to a straightforward question, or receive a response that raises three more questions. Responsive communication is not a selling point here — it is just how the practice operates.

🎯

Twenty years across real businesses

Daniel has worked in airlines, construction, manufacturing and entertainment — not only accountancy practices. That breadth means he already understands the financial pressures and structural quirks of most business types before you explain them. You get seasoned judgement, not a recently qualified graduate learning on your time.

Getting started

Up and running in four straightforward steps

Most clients are fully onboarded within a week. The process is designed to be light on your time and heavy on ours.

1

Book a free discovery call

A short call to talk through your business, your current setup and what you actually need. No sales pitch — just an honest conversation about whether DG Accountancy is the right fit. You will leave the call knowing exactly what happens next.

2

Receive your fixed-fee quote

A written quote is sent after the call, broken down by service and tied to your specific business structure. Everything is agreed upfront, so there are no surprise invoices three months in.

3

Onboarding and cloud setup

Your Xero account is set up or tidied up, bank feeds are connected and any historical catch-up work is scoped and priced separately if needed. If you are migrating from QuickBooks, that is handled as part of the onboarding process.

4

Ongoing support, proactively

Your compliance runs as a matter of routine — VAT filed, payroll processed, year-end prepared without drama. You get plain-English updates whenever something needs your attention and proactive advice when an opportunity or risk is worth flagging. Which is, frankly, the way it should be.

Questions

Things people usually ask before getting started

I currently use QuickBooks Online — can you work with that, or do I have to switch?+

DG Accountancy’s primary platform is Xero, which integrates more cleanly with UK payroll, Making Tax Digital and Companies House filings. If you are on QuickBooks, a migration to Xero is straightforward and is handled during onboarding at no extra cost. In practice, most clients find Xero easier to use day-to-day, and the switch is less disruptive than it sounds.

What does cloud accounting with DG Accountancy actually cost?+

Pricing depends on your business structure, turnover and the services you need. Limited company packages start from £79 per month and sole trader packages from £41 per month, all on fixed monthly fees agreed in writing before any work begins. There are currently no hourly rates and no surprise end-of-year invoices. A 50% discount applies to the first three months for both limited company and sole trader packages.

My books are several months behind — is that a problem for switching?+

It is not unusual. Catch-up bookkeeping is scoped and priced separately from your ongoing monthly fee, so you know exactly what it will cost to get up to date before any work starts. Once the backlog is cleared, the monthly service takes over and keeps things current going forward. Most catch-ups are completed within two to three weeks of onboarding.

Is there a long-term contract or minimum term?+

There is no long-term contract. Services run on a rolling monthly basis and you can give notice at any time. If things are not working after the first three months, you leave with clean, up-to-date books and nothing further owed. The aim is to be worth keeping, not difficult to leave.

Does cloud accounting with Xero cover Making Tax Digital?+

Yes. Xero is a fully MTD-compatible platform and all VAT returns are submitted directly to HMRC through the software. As MTD for Income Tax extends to self-employed individuals and landlords from April 2026, clients on the relevant packages will be set up and ready well in advance. You will not need to take any action separately — it is handled as part of the ongoing service.

Will I have a clearer picture of my tax bill throughout the year?+

That is one of the practical advantages of current bookkeeping. With up-to-date records in Xero, your Corporation Tax or Self Assessment liability can be estimated at any point in the year rather than disclosed as a surprise in January or after your year-end. For limited company clients on the Operate tier and above, a tax review is included as part of the annual service.
