Sound familiar?
Payroll running late because everything else came first?
For most small businesses in Torquay, payroll gets squeezed in around the day job. RTI submissions go out at the last minute, P11D deadlines creep up unannounced, and CIS deductions get reconciled — eventually. HMRC does not particularly care how busy you were.
- RTI submissions filed late or incorrectly, attracting HMRC penalty notices
- P11D and P60 deadlines missed because payroll sits low on the priority list
- CIS deductions applied inconsistently, creating reconciliation problems at year end
What a managed payroll looks like
When payroll is handled properly, every deadline is met before you think to ask about it. Submissions go out correctly, employees get accurate payslips, and HMRC correspondence stops being a source of anxiety.
- RTI filed correctly every pay run — no last-minute scrambles or penalty notices
- P11D, P60 and all year-end filings handled and off your desk on time
- CIS deductions calculated accurately and reconciled each month without gaps
- One fixed monthly fee, agreed upfront — payroll costs you the same each month

What makes payroll here different
There are plenty of payroll bureaux. Here is what sets this practice apart for Torquay business owners.
Every deadline met without chasing
RTI, P11D, P60 and CIS deadlines are tracked and filed as a matter of course — not when you remember to follow up. Businesses that handle payroll in-house tend to discover missed deadlines through HMRC letters rather than calendar reminders. That stops being a concern when payroll is properly managed.
Payroll connected to your bookkeeping
As a Xero Bronze Partner, payroll runs through the same cloud platform as your bookkeeping — so PAYE liabilities post automatically, bank reconciliation stays tidy, and year-end is not a forensic exercise. Everything talks to everything else, which is frankly how it should work.
Plain-English answers, same day
Payroll questions — whether about a new employee, a director salary change, or a CIS verification — get answered in plain English on the day you ask. Daniel has 20 years of experience across construction, manufacturing and more, so most payroll scenarios are not new ground.
Up and running in four steps
Most payroll clients are fully onboarded within a week. Here is what the process looks like from first contact.
Book a free discovery call
A short conversation about your business, how many employees or subcontractors you pay, and what your current payroll set-up looks like. No obligation — just an honest discussion about whether this is the right fit.
Receive your fixed-fee quote
You will get a clear written quote based on your employee headcount and the services required. Everything is agreed upfront, so the monthly cost stays the same regardless of how many questions you have.
We set up and take over
Existing payroll records are transferred across, employee details are confirmed, and Xero payroll is configured or connected. Most businesses are fully onboarded within a week, often without a disrupted pay run.
Payroll runs itself from here
Each period, pay runs are processed, RTI is filed and payslips are issued without you lifting a finger. You know your PAYE liability before the payment date, deadlines are met, and payroll simply stops being something that occupies your headspace.
“Absolutely recommend Daniel for all and any accounts related matter. Would use his expertise again. He is the most amazing person, very professional, explaining every detail meticulously in order to finalise our accounts. A huge thank you Daniel.”
Things people usually ask about payroll
Do you handle CIS payroll and P11D as well as standard PAYE?
Yes. CIS is managed alongside standard payroll — subcontractor verifications, monthly returns and reconciliation are all included. P11D filings for benefits-in-kind are handled as part of the year-end payroll process, filed before the July deadline. If you have a mix of employed staff and CIS subcontractors, that is a common setup and not a complication.
What does payroll cost and what is included?
Payroll is priced on a fixed monthly fee based on employee headcount. The Operate package covers payroll for one to three employees, Grow covers four to nine, and Scale covers up to twenty — all included within the package fee. Standalone payroll add-ons are available for the Start package. Every quote is written and agreed before anything starts, so there are no variable charges based on how long a pay run takes.
My payroll records are incomplete or behind — can you take it over mid-year?
Mid-year take-ons are straightforward in most cases. Existing records are reviewed, any gaps are identified and corrected, and the payroll is brought up to date before the next pay run. If there are historic RTI discrepancies with HMRC, those are also addressed as part of onboarding. Catch-up work is quoted separately and agreed upfront.
Is there a minimum contract or lock-in period?
No long-term contract. Monthly rolling arrangements mean you are not tied in, and if the service is not right for your business you can leave with your payroll records in order and nothing outstanding. The aim is to be worth staying with — not to make leaving difficult.
Can you handle director-only payroll for a limited company?
Yes, and it is one of the more common arrangements for new limited companies. A director salary structure is set up correctly from the outset — typically to make best use of the personal allowance and National Insurance thresholds — with RTI filed each period. Dividend planning can sit alongside this if it forms part of a broader tax strategy.
Will I know my PAYE liability before the payment deadline?
Yes. Your PAYE liability is confirmed each period as part of the payroll run, well before the 19th or 22nd of the following month. There are no last-minute calculations on payment day. If your liability changes — for example, because of a bonus or a new starter — that is flagged clearly so there are no surprises at the bank.
Payroll off your plate, deadlines handled.
Fixed monthly fees, an ACCA-qualified accountant managing every run, and same-day replies whenever something changes. No long-term contract required.
