Budgeting Services Torbay
Know where your money is going, before it goes.
Most Torbay business owners have a rough idea of their finances but not a working budget. That gap tends to show up as a cash shortfall at the wrong moment. Daniel works with you to build a budget that reflects how your business actually operates — fixed monthly fee, ACCA-qualified, and questions answered the day you ask them.
- A structured budget built around your actual business figures
- Monthly actual-versus-budget reports in plain English
- Cash shortfalls visible weeks ahead, not after the fact
- One fixed monthly fee — your accounting cost is predictable too
No long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with cleaner books than you arrived with and nothing owed.

Sound familiar?
Running on gut feeling instead of a budget?
A lot of Torbay business owners know roughly what they earn and roughly what they spend, but have no structured budget to check either against. The result is decisions made by instinct, cash shortfalls that appear without warning, and a persistent sense that the numbers are somewhere — just not where you can see them.
- No monthly budget to measure actual spending and income against
- Cash shortfalls arriving as surprises rather than flagged in advance
- Financial decisions made on instinct because the data is not visible
What a working budget looks like
A budget is only useful if it reflects your business accurately and gets reviewed regularly. DG Accountancy builds budgets grounded in your real figures, then monitors them monthly so the gaps between plan and reality are caught early rather than after the damage is done.
- A structured monthly budget mapped to your actual income and cost lines
- Cash flow forecasting that shows shortfalls weeks before they arrive
- Monthly actual-versus-budget reporting so decisions have data behind them
- One transparent fixed monthly fee — your accounting cost follows the same logic as your budget
What Torbay business owners say
These are verbatim reviews from clients who came in with their numbers in some state of disarray and left with considerably more clarity.
Daniel was very helpful with my books and tax return. He offered great advise and insight in how to manage my books better and more efficiently. His knowledge in tax law and what can be used for expenses really helped with saving money where I could. As a sole trader it’s really hard to keep on top of things and have now asked Dan to do monthly books for me. His rates are extremely good compared to some other accountants out there and I get more for my money.
Absolutely recommend Daniel for all and any accounts related matter. Would use his expertise again. He is the most amazing person, very professional, explaining every detail meticulously in order to finalise our accounts. A huge thank you Daniel.
What budgeting support covers
Budgeting at DG Accountancy is not a spreadsheet emailed once and forgotten. It is an ongoing process that keeps your finances visible and your decisions grounded.
Budget Building and Planning
Your budget is built from your actual income streams and cost structure, not a generic template. It is set at the start of the year or quarter and revised when your circumstances change. You will know what you are aiming for and what it means when you miss it.
Included in advisory packagesMonthly Actual-Versus-Budget Reports
Each month your actual figures are compared against the plan and the variances are explained in plain English — not left to you to decode from a spreadsheet. Persistent gaps are flagged before they compound. You see the pattern while there is still time to act on it.
Ongoing monthly supportCash Flow Forecasting
A budget tells you what you plan to spend. A cash flow forecast tells you whether the money will actually be there when you need it. DG Accountancy builds rolling forecasts that show your cash position weeks ahead, so shortfalls are anticipated rather than absorbed.
Available from Grow packageClients across Torbay and beyond
DG Accountancy works with sole traders, limited company directors and landlords across Torbay and the wider UK — all through a fully online, cloud-based service.

Took the Tax Burden Off Our Plate
“Huge thanks to Daniel for helping ourselves with our taxes! Being self employed means we all have to do this ourselves which is just not possible on top of our work load. Thanks again! We will be using you again!”
What makes this different from the average accountant
Any accountant can file your returns. Fewer will sit with you and build a budget that actually reflects how your business runs.
Budgets Built on Real Numbers
Daniel draws on 20 years of experience across airlines, construction, manufacturing and entertainment — industries where getting the budget wrong has real consequences. Your budget is not a template exercise. It is built from your actual cost structure and reviewed against your real monthly figures.
Answers When You Need Them
Budgeting questions tend to arise in the middle of a decision, not during a quarterly check-in. DG Accountancy is known for fast replies — you will not be waiting days for a response when you are trying to decide whether an expense is within plan or not.
Live Figures, Not Last Quarter’s Data
Everything runs through Xero with bank feeds connected, so your budget is monitored against up-to-date figures rather than data that is weeks out of date. Variances are visible as they develop, not after you have already spent the money.
Up and running in four steps
Most clients are fully onboarded and working with a live budget within a week of their first call. The process is straightforward by design.
Book a free discovery call
You will talk through your business, your current financial visibility, and what you are trying to plan for. No sales pitch — just an honest conversation about whether a structured budget would actually help and what form it should take.
Receive your fixed-fee quote
You will get a clear written quote covering exactly which services are included. Everything is agreed upfront, so the cost of getting your finances in order does not itself become an unplanned expense.
Xero setup and onboarding
Your Xero account is set up or tidied up, bank feeds are connected, and your opening figures are established. Most clients are fully onboarded within a week. You do very little — this part is handled.
Monthly clarity, ongoing
Your budget is live, your actuals are tracked against it each month, and you receive a plain-English report showing where you stand. Cash shortfalls are flagged before they arrive. You make decisions with data rather than instinct — which is, frankly, the way it should work.
“I worked with Daniel at DG Accountancy to review and sign off my sole trader accounts for a time-sensitive mortgage application, and the service was excellent. Daniel was extremely responsive, clear, and professional throughout. He understood exactly what the lender required, turned everything around very quickly without cutting corners. Communication was straightforward and reassuring, which made a potentially stressful part of the mortgage process much easier. Fees were transparent, turnaround was fast, and the work was done thoroughly and accurately. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Daniel to anyone needing reliable accountancy support, particularly where deadlines really matter.”
Things people usually ask first
Can you build a budget for a seasonal business or one with irregular income?
Yes, and it is worth doing carefully. A flat monthly budget does not work well for businesses where income spikes in summer or costs cluster around particular periods — which describes a fair number of Torbay businesses in hospitality, tourism and trades. The budget is structured around your actual revenue pattern, with cash flow forecasting adjusted to reflect the peaks and troughs rather than smoothed out to a number that never actually occurs.
What does budgeting support cost and what is included?
Budgeting and cash flow forecasting are included from the Grow package (from £395 per month) for limited companies, with a 13-week rolling cash flow forecast included at the Scale level. Management accounts and actual-versus-budget reporting are part of those same packages. All fees are fixed and agreed upfront — there are no hourly rates or surprise invoices. A free quote is available without obligation.
My books are behind and I have no existing budget. Can you still help?
This is a common starting point. The first task would be to bring your records up to date in Xero so there is a reliable base to build from — catch-up bookkeeping is a standard part of onboarding. Once the historical figures are clean, a budget can be built from them. The catch-up cost depends on how far behind you are and is quoted transparently before any work begins.
Is there a minimum contract or lock-in period?
There is no long-term contract. Services run on a monthly basis and you can give notice at any time. The aim is to be worth keeping, not to make leaving awkward. If you do move on, your Xero data is yours and your records are handed over cleanly.
How often will I actually see my budget figures and what format do they come in?
Monthly management accounts include an actual-versus-budget comparison presented in plain English, not a raw accounting report. Variances that warrant attention are flagged and briefly explained. You will not need to interpret a wall of numbers — the point is that the report answers the questions you would have asked anyway.
Can budgeting help me plan for a tax bill or director’s dividend?
It can and should. A working budget makes your corporation tax liability visible months before the payment is due, so there are no surprises when the bill arrives. It also informs how much you can safely draw as a dividend without creating a cash shortfall elsewhere. Daniel can factor both into the budget and the cash flow forecast so the timing of both is planned rather than reactive.
