Sound familiar?
Starting a business is complicated enough without the tax admin.
Most new founders spend their early months Googling filing deadlines, second-guessing their business structure and wondering whether they should have registered for VAT by now. The compliance side of running a business is not especially difficult — it is just unfamiliar, and unfamiliarity tends to be expensive when deadlines are involved.
- Unsure whether sole trader or limited company makes more sense for your situation
- No idea what records to keep or how to set up your bookkeeping from day one
- Deadlines, tax registrations and HMRC obligations all feel like a moving target
What sorted looks like for a new business
The right structure chosen upfront, your books set up correctly in Xero from the start, and every deadline tracked so nothing slips. You focus on building the business; the compliance runs in the background.
- Structure decision made clearly, with the numbers to back it up
- Xero set up and bookkeeping running from your first transaction
- Every filing deadline and registration obligation handled before it becomes urgent
- Fixed monthly fee agreed upfront — no surprise invoices as your business grows
What new clients say when they stop guessing
From first returns to ongoing compliance, these are the situations Daniel deals with every week — and what clients say on the other side.
Huge thanks to Daniel for helping ourselves with our taxes! Being self employed means we all have to do this ourselves which is just not possible on top of our work load. Thanks again! We will be using you again!
Daniel was very helpful and patient with me when I had no clue what to do and spoke through everything with me and made it clear, couldn’t recommend him enough, thank you again.
Everything a new business needs to start clean
From company formation through to ongoing compliance, each package is built around what a new business actually needs — not a list of add-ons that inflate the bill.
Company Formation and Setup
Your limited company registered at Companies House, your Xero account configured, and your bank feeds connected — all within your first week. Starting with the right structure avoids costly corrections later. Limited company registration is included as standard across all packages.
Included as standardCompliance Handled Every Month
Bookkeeping, VAT returns, payroll, Self Assessment and Corporation Tax — all filed accurately and on time. Your tax position is visible well in advance of any deadline, not assembled in a rush the week before. No chasing, no last-minute panic.
Runs in the backgroundTax Planning from Day One
Getting the structure right at the start — salary, dividends, expenses — makes a material difference to how much tax you pay in year one and beyond. Daniel flags these decisions early rather than reviewing them after the fact. Proactive tax advice is included across all plans.
Proactive, not reactiveA consistent experience across different clients
From sole traders filing their first return to limited company directors scaling fast — the feedback covers the same things: responsiveness, clarity and value.
Transparent Fees, Thorough Work, Fast Delivery
“I worked with Daniel at DG Accountancy to review and sign off my sole trader accounts for a time-sensitive mortgage application, and the service was excellent. Daniel was extremely responsive, clear, and professional throughout.”
Professional Service, Never Have to Worry
“Professional service. This company does my accounts every year and i never have to worry about it. Speedy as well. I am a very happy customer.”
Great Insight, Already Saving on Expenses
“Daniel was very helpful with my books and tax return. He offered great advise and insight in how to manage my books better and more efficiently. His knowledge in tax law and what can be used for expenses really helped with saving money where I could.”
What makes this different from any other accountant
Most startup accountants offer the same compliance tick-boxes. What distinguishes DG Accountancy is the combination of experience, responsiveness and straight talk.
Experience across sectors, not just compliance
Daniel has 20 years of hands-on accounting experience across airlines, construction, manufacturing and entertainment — which means he has already seen the financial challenges most new business owners are about to face. You get considered advice, not a checklist. That background informs the structure decisions, the tax planning and the conversations you will have throughout the year.
Questions answered the day you ask
When you are new to running a business, questions come up constantly — and waiting days for a reply costs time and creates uncertainty. DG Accountancy is known for fast, clear responses. You will not be left chasing an email or wondering whether your question was received.
Cloud-first setup from your first transaction
Everything runs through Xero, connected to your bank feeds and set up correctly from the start. There are no shoeboxes of receipts, no spreadsheets to maintain manually, and no waiting for your accountant to open the books at year-end. Your numbers are visible and current in real time.
Up and running in four straightforward steps.
Most new clients are fully onboarded within a week. The process is designed to require as little from you as possible at the start.

Compliance runs; you focus on growth
Your deadlines are tracked, your tax position is visible and your books are current. When questions come up — and they will — answers arrive quickly and in plain English. Which is, frankly, the way it should be.
“Excellent service providing financial accounts for probate. Quick, efficient and friendly. Would highly recommend.”
Things new business owners usually ask
Should I operate as a sole trader or set up a limited company?
It depends on your expected profit, your appetite for paperwork and your plans for growth — there is no universal answer. As part of your onboarding, Daniel will look at your projections and walk you through the tax position under both structures so you can make the decision with actual numbers in front of you, not a rough guess.
What does startup accounting actually cost, and what is included?
Limited company packages start from £79 per month, with 50% off the first three months. Each package includes your company formation, year-end accounts, Corporation Tax return and dedicated accountant support — with VAT, payroll and Self Assessment included at higher tiers. Everything is agreed in writing upfront, so there are no surprise invoices as your business grows.
I have already started trading but my books are a mess. Can you help?
Catch-up bookkeeping is a routine part of onboarding for clients who have been trading for a while before instructing an accountant. The cost depends on how far back the records need to go and how complete they are — that will be assessed and quoted clearly before any work begins. Most clients are in good order within two to three weeks.
Is there a long-term contract or minimum commitment?
No long-term contract. Monthly rolling arrangements mean you are not tied in, and if the relationship is not working you can leave with your records in order and nothing owed. In practice, most clients stay because the service is consistent — not because they have to.
Do you handle the company formation, or do I need to do that separately?
Company formation is included as standard across all limited company packages. Daniel will handle the Companies House registration, confirm your SIC code and set up your registered office where required. You do not need to use a separate formation agent or work through the process yourself.
When do I need to register for VAT, and how will I know when I am getting close?
The current VAT registration threshold is £90,000 of taxable turnover in any rolling 12-month period. With your bookkeeping running monthly in Xero, your turnover is visible in real time — you will not approach the threshold without knowing about it. If voluntary registration makes sense for your business before that point, Daniel will raise it proactively rather than waiting for you to ask.
