Part-time FD services

Part-Time FD Services

Strategic finance leadership, without the full-time hire.

Your business has outgrown a compliance-only accountant but is not yet at the stage where a full-time Finance Director makes financial sense. A part-time FD bridges that gap. Fixed monthly fee, ACCA-qualified with 20 years of cross-sector experience, and reachable the same day you ask.

  • Monthly management accounts delivered on time, every month
  • Cash flow modelled so you can see problems before they arrive
  • Strategic finance input without a six-figure salary commitment
  • Tax planning built into your numbers, not bolted on in January

No long-term contract. If the arrangement is not working after three months, you leave with cleaner books and nothing owed.

Sound familiar?

Growing fast, but flying blind on the numbers?

A lot of ambitious owner-managed businesses reach a point where the annual accounts are not enough and a full-time FD is too much. You need someone who can read the management accounts with you, model the cash position three months out, and tell you what the numbers actually mean for the decisions you are making now. That conversation is not happening with most accountants.

  • No monthly management accounts, so decisions are made on instinct rather than figures
  • Cash flow surprises appearing because no one is modelling it forward
  • Tax bill arriving with no warning because planning never happened during the year

What having an FD on your side looks like

Part-time FD support from DG Accountancy means you get structured financial oversight every month, not just at year-end. Management accounts, cash flow forecasting, strategic input and proactive tax planning — all on a fixed fee that makes sense for the size you are now.

  • Monthly management accounts reviewed and explained in plain English
  • Rolling cash flow forecast updated so surprises stop being surprises
  • Tax position reviewed quarterly so the year-end bill is never a shock
  • Fixed monthly fee agreed upfront — no hourly clock, no unpredictable invoices

What you get

What your part-time FD engagement covers

Part-time FD support is structured around the decisions your business is actually making — not the compliance calendar. Here is what that looks like in practice.

01

Management Accounts and Financial Reporting

Monthly or quarterly management accounts prepared in Xero and reviewed with you, so you know where the business stands before making any significant call. KPI dashboards and profit and loss commentary are included, not an optional extra. You stop guessing and start deciding.

Monthly or quarterly
02

Cash Flow Forecasting and Budgeting

A rolling 13-week cash flow model updated regularly so you can see a funding gap or a surplus window well before it arrives. Annual budgets and scenario modelling are built alongside you, not handed over as a spreadsheet to interpret alone. Decisions made with real numbers tend to go better.

Forward-looking, always current
03

Strategic Finance Input and Tax Planning

Quarterly strategic reviews covering your tax position, dividend planning, profit extraction and any structural decisions on the horizon — whether that is taking on staff, acquiring an asset, or planning an exit. The aim is that nothing material happens to your finances without you having seen it coming. Proactive by design, reactive only when necessary.

Why DG Accountancy

Why this is different from your current accountant

Most accountants file returns. A part-time FD does something different — and the distinction is worth understanding before you decide.

🎯

Twenty Years Across Diverse Industries

Daniel has held finance roles across airlines, construction, manufacturing and entertainment — sectors with genuinely different financial pressures, capital cycles and risk profiles. That breadth means he has almost certainly seen the financial challenge your business is navigating now. You get experienced judgement rather than textbook answers.

📊

Numbers That Actually Mean Something

Management accounts are only useful if someone explains what they are telling you. Every set of accounts produced at DG Accountancy comes with commentary in plain English — what changed, why it changed, and what it means for the next 90 days. No cryptic reports filed and forgotten.

You Get an Answer the Day You Ask

Part-time FD work depends on being reachable when a decision is live, not available in three days when the moment has passed. DG Accountancy is known for fast replies — if you send a question during business hours, you get a useful response the same day. Which is, frankly, what strategic support should mean.

Getting started

Up and running in four straightforward steps

Most clients are fully onboarded within a week. Here is what the process looks like from first call to ongoing support.

1

Book a free discovery call

A 30-minute call to talk through your business, what financial visibility you currently have, and what you actually need from a part-time FD. No sales pitch — just an honest conversation about whether the arrangement makes sense for you.

2

Receive your fixed-fee quote

You will get a written quote that sets out exactly what is included and what it costs each month. Everything is agreed upfront, so there are no surprise invoices and no ambiguity about scope.

3

Onboarding and Xero setup

We set up or tidy your Xero account, connect bank feeds, and gather the information we need to produce your first management accounts. Most clients are fully onboarded within a week and the process requires minimal effort on your part.

4

Ongoing FD support, every month

Your management accounts arrive on schedule, your cash flow is modelled forward, and your tax position is reviewed as the year progresses. You stop making financial decisions in the dark and start making them with someone who has read the numbers alongside you.

Questions

Things people usually ask before getting started

What does a part-time FD actually do that my existing accountant does not?+

A compliance accountant files your returns accurately and on time — which matters, but it is not the same as financial leadership. A part-time FD works with your numbers forward-looking: preparing management accounts, modelling cash flow, reviewing your tax position quarterly, and sitting alongside you when significant decisions are being made. The difference is the gap between knowing your tax bill after the year ends and knowing your likely tax position six months before it does.

What does part-time FD support cost, and what is included?+

Part-time FD services at DG Accountancy are priced on a fixed monthly fee tailored to the scope of work — typically the complexity of the business, reporting frequency and level of strategic involvement required. There are no hourly rates and no surprise invoices. You will receive a written quote before committing to anything, so the fee is agreed and visible from day one.

My books are not in great shape. Can you still help?+

Yes — and this is not unusual. Many businesses engaging part-time FD support have books that have not been maintained properly or have been handled by multiple people over time. There is typically a catch-up or clean-up phase at the start of an engagement, which is scoped and quoted separately so you know what that involves before work begins. The underlying goal is to get the numbers reliable enough to be useful, which is the only point at which meaningful FD work can happen.

Is there a long-term contract or a minimum commitment?+

There is no long-term lock-in. Engagements run on a monthly basis and you can leave with reasonable notice. The practical reality is that FD-level support takes a month or two to deliver meaningful output — there is a natural setup period — but you are not tied to a 12-month contract. If it is not working, you are free to stop.

Can you work alongside my existing bookkeeper or in-house finance team?+

Yes. Part-time FD support sits above day-to-day bookkeeping rather than replacing it. If you already have someone managing the data entry and reconciliation, Daniel works with what they produce — reviewing, interpreting and advising at the strategic level. Where bookkeeping needs to be set up or improved to make the management accounts reliable, that can be handled as part of the onboarding.

How far ahead will I be able to see my tax position?+

With quarterly tax reviews built into the engagement, your Corporation Tax liability, dividend position and personal tax exposure are modelled during the year rather than calculated after it closes. That means your January Self Assessment is not a surprise, your salary and dividend split is reviewed before the tax year ends, and any year-end planning opportunities are identified while there is still time to act on them.

Ready when you are

Stop making decisions without the numbers. Let’s fix that.

A free discovery call takes 30 minutes. You will leave knowing exactly what part-time FD support would look like for your business, what it costs, and whether it makes sense right now.
