Sound familiar?

Running the business and the books is one too many jobs.

Most small business owners in the UK end up doing their own accounting not because they want to, but because finding a responsive, reasonably priced accountant feels harder than it should. The result is books that are months behind, a Self Assessment filed in a panic in January, and a vague sense that more tax is being paid than necessary. None of this is inevitable.

  • Self Assessment left until January, filed in a rush with no time to plan
  • Books months behind, meaning no clear picture of how the business is actually doing
  • No idea whether you are close to the VAT registration threshold until it is too late

What sorted looks like

A fixed monthly fee covers the compliance. The books stay current. You get plain-English answers when you need them and a proactive heads-up before problems become expensive ones.

  • Tax return filed months early — tax bill known before the payment deadline
  • Books reconciled monthly so your numbers are current and reliable year-round
  • VAT threshold tracked continuously — no unexpected registration obligations

What small business owners say

From sole traders filing their first return to limited companies growing fast — clients across the UK describe the same experience: clear, fast and worth every penny.

★★★★★

Daniel was very helpful with my books and tax return. He offered great advise and insight in how to manage my books better and more efficiently. His knowledge in tax law and what can be used for expenses really helped with saving money where I could. As a sole trader it’s really hard to keep on top of things and have now asked Dan to do monthly books for me. His rates are extremely good compared to some other accountants out there and I get more for my money.

Huge thanks to Daniel for helping ourselves with our taxes! Being self employed means we all have to do this ourselves which is just not possible on top of our work load. Thanks again! We will be using you again!

Why DG Accountancy

What makes this practice different

There is no shortage of accountants. What is rarer is one who replies quickly, explains things clearly and already understands the sector you work in.

🎯

No learning curve at your expense

Daniel has 20 years of hands-on experience across airlines, construction, manufacturing and entertainment. That breadth means he understands the practical challenges small businesses face across different sectors without needing them explained. You get considered advice from day one, not a graduate working through the basics on your time.

Questions answered the day you ask

DG Accountancy is built around fast, direct communication. You contact Daniel and Daniel replies — not a junior, not a call centre, not a ticketing system. If a question comes in during office hours, it gets answered the same day. That matters when decisions are time-sensitive.

💬

Plain English, every time

Accounting terminology is not kept deliberately vague here. Your figures, your options and your obligations are explained in language that actually makes sense. If a decision has a tax implication, you will understand what it is before you make it — not after.

Getting started

Up and running in four straightforward steps

Most new clients are fully onboarded and their books in order within a week. Here is what the process looks like.

1

Book a free discovery call

A short call to talk through your business, your current set-up and what you actually need from an accountant. No sales pressure — just an honest conversation about whether DG Accountancy is the right fit for you.

2

Receive your fixed-fee quote

After the call you will receive a clear written quote tailored to your business structure and the services you need. Everything is agreed upfront, so the fee you see is the fee you pay. No surprises later.

3

Onboarding and cloud setup

Your Xero account is set up or tidied up, bank feeds are connected and everything needed to get started is gathered. The process is handled — you provide the access and the documents, and the rest is done for you. Most clients are fully onboarded within a week.

4

Compliance handled, focus on growth

Your returns are filed on time, your books are current and you get proactive advice when something relevant to your business changes. Tax deadlines come and go without the Sunday-evening panic. Which is, frankly, the way it should be.

Questions

Things small business owners usually ask

Do you actually understand how small businesses in the UK are structured and taxed?+

Yes — and across a range of sectors. Whether you operate as a sole trader, a limited company, or a partnership, the compliance requirements differ and the tax planning options differ accordingly. Daniel has worked with businesses in construction, retail, hospitality, professional services and more, so the starting point is familiarity with how your type of business works, not a blank page.

What does it cost and what is included in the monthly fee?+

Packages for sole traders start from £41 per month and limited company packages from £79 per month, with 50% off the first three months on both. Each package includes a defined set of services — bookkeeping, Self Assessment, year-end accounts and Corporation Tax depending on the tier — and the full feature breakdown is available on the pricing page. The quote you receive before starting is written down and agreed upfront, so the monthly fee does not change without discussion.

My books are a mess. Can you still help?+

Yes, and it is a common starting point. Catch-up bookkeeping — bringing records up to date from wherever they currently are — is handled as part of onboarding. The cost of catch-up work is quoted separately and agreed before anything starts, so there are no surprises. Once the books are current, the monthly service keeps them that way.

Is there a long-term contract or a minimum commitment?+

No long-term contract. The service runs on a rolling monthly basis, and you can give notice at any time. If you decide it is not working after a few months, you leave with your books in good order and nothing further owed. The aim is to keep clients because the service is worth it, not because the contract makes leaving difficult.

Do I need to use Xero, or can I stay on my current software?+

Xero is the platform used here, and the monthly fee includes access to it. If you are currently on a different system, the migration is handled during onboarding. If your records are in spreadsheets or a shoebox, that is also manageable — the starting point is wherever you are, not wherever you should have been.

How far in advance will I know what my tax bill is going to be?+

For most clients, the aim is to have a clear tax liability figure several months before the payment deadline. That means time to plan, time to set funds aside and, where there are legitimate reliefs or planning opportunities available, time to act on them. Tax bills landing as a surprise in January are largely avoidable when the books are current and reviewed regularly.
