Sound familiar?
Still not sure what your tax bill will be?
Finding out what you owe in January — after months of guessing — is a peculiarly British small business tradition. Add a backlog of unreconciled transactions, a Self Assessment return you have not started, and an accountant who replies when they feel like it, and the whole thing becomes considerably more stressful than it needs to be. It does not have to work this way.
- Tax bill arrives as a surprise rather than a planned-for figure
- Weeks pass between sending a question and getting a useful answer
- Books are behind, deadlines are close, and penalties feel inevitable
What on top of things looks like
Your numbers are current, your tax position is visible, and your deadlines are handled. You stop chasing your accountant and start getting answers the day you need them.
- Tax liability visible well in advance — no January surprises
- Questions get a same-day reply during office hours
- Compliance filed on time with HMRC penalties simply not a factor
- Fixed monthly fee agreed upfront — the invoice is never a surprise either
What clients say about online tax support
From sole traders filing their first Self Assessment to limited company directors managing complex income — here is what working with DG Accountancy looks like in practice.
Huge thanks to Daniel for helping ourselves with our taxes! Being self employed means we all have to do this ourselves which is just not possible on top of our work load. Thanks again! We will be using you again!
I worked with Daniel at DG Accountancy to review and sign off my sole trader accounts for a time-sensitive mortgage application, and the service was excellent. Daniel was extremely responsive, clear, and professional throughout. He understood exactly what the lender required, turned everything around very quickly without cutting corners. Communication was straightforward and reassuring, which made a potentially stressful part of the mortgage process much easier. Fees were transparent, turnaround was fast, and the work was done thoroughly and accurately. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Daniel to anyone needing reliable accountancy support, particularly where deadlines really matter.

What makes an online accountant worth switching to
There is no shortage of online accounting firms. The difference is whether the person handling your tax has genuine cross-sector experience, answers quickly, and explains things without making you feel like you should already know.
Twenty Years Across Real Businesses
Daniel has worked in airlines, construction, manufacturing and entertainment — which means he has encountered the kinds of situations that do not appear in textbooks. You get that breadth of experience applied to your specific circumstances, not a generalist working through a checklist.
Questions Answered the Day You Ask
DG Accountancy is known for fast replies and clear communication. You will not spend a week waiting for a simple answer about your tax position or an expense query. That responsiveness is not a bonus feature — it is how the practice is run.
Fully Online, Always Current
Everything runs through Xero — bank feeds connected, records current, MTD-compliant from the start. There are no shoeboxes to post, no year-end panic, and no waiting for your accountant to catch up on three months of transactions you sent them in January.

Most clients are fully onboarded within a week. The process is designed to take as little of your time as possible — you have a business to run.

Xero set-up and onboarding

Compliance on autopilot
Your returns are filed on time, your tax position is visible throughout the year, and you have an accountant who answers when you call. Which is, frankly, the way it should be.
“Daniel was very helpful and patient with me when I had no clue what to do and spoke through everything with me and made it clear, couldn’t recommend him enough, thank you again.”
Things people usually ask before signing up
I have both employed income and self-employed income — can you handle a mixed tax position?
Yes, and it is more common than people think. A combination of employment, self-employment, dividends, rental income or capital gains all feed into a single Self Assessment return. The return is prepared with all sources included, the liability calculated accurately, and any reliefs or allowances applied before submission.
What does it actually cost, and what is included?
Pricing is fixed and monthly — no hourly rates and no surprise invoices. Limited company packages start from £79 per month and sole trader packages from £41 per month, with 50% off for the first three months. Everything included in your package is agreed in writing before you start, so you know exactly what you are paying for.
My books are in a bit of a state. Can you still help?
Clients arriving with records in some degree of disarray is not unusual. A catch-up bookkeeping exercise gets everything reconciled and current before ongoing work begins. The cost and timescale for catch-up work are quoted separately and agreed upfront — there are no hidden fees for the clean-up.
Is there a minimum contract or lock-in period?
No long-term contract. Packages run monthly and you can give notice at any time. If it is not working, you leave with your books in order, your login credentials handed back, and nothing further owed. The aim is to be worth staying with, not to make leaving difficult.
Do you work with clients across the whole of the UK, or only in Devon?
DG Accountancy is a fully online practice. The firm is based in Torquay, Devon, but serves clients throughout the UK. All work is delivered remotely via Xero, video calls and secure file sharing — location is not a factor.
How far in advance will I know what my tax bill is going to be?
With current bookkeeping and quarterly reviews in place, you should have a clear view of your likely tax position well before any payment deadline. For limited company clients on the Operate package and above, a tax review is built into the annual cycle specifically so the liability is not a January surprise.
