Sound familiar?

Running on gut feel instead of a plan?

Most Paignton business owners are too busy running the business to sit down and map where it is actually heading. The result is decisions made on instinct, cash flow surprises that could have been foreseen, and no clear picture of what the next twelve months look like. That is not a character flaw — it is what happens when there is no structured planning process in place.

  • No reliable forecast of what cash will look like in three months
  • Budgets that were set once and never reviewed against reality
  • No written plan to support a loan application, investment or major decision

What a proper plan looks like

Business planning with DG Accountancy means working numbers that reflect how your business actually operates — not spreadsheet guesswork. The output is something you can act on, revisit and show to a bank or investor without embarrassment.

  • A rolling cash flow forecast updated as your business changes month to month
  • A working budget compared against actuals each quarter so variances are visible early
  • A written business plan ready for lenders, partners or your own strategic decisions
  • Fixed monthly fee agreed upfront — no hourly billing, no unexpected invoices

What Paignton business owners say

Business owners across the bay get clearer numbers and better decisions. Here is what two of them said after working with Daniel.

★★★★★

Daniel was very helpful with my books and tax return. He offered great advise and insight in how to manage my books better and more efficiently. His knowledge in tax law and what can be used for expenses really helped with saving money where I could. As a sole trader it’s really hard to keep on top of things and have now asked Dan to do monthly books for me. His rates are extremely good compared to some other accountants out there and I get more for my money.

What you get

Business planning services, explained plainly

Three core outputs that give Paignton business owners a clearer picture of where they stand and where they are heading — all included or available as part of your monthly package.

01

Cash Flow Forecasting

Your cash position projected forward so you can see pressure points before they become problems. Based on your actual trading data — not assumptions borrowed from a generic template. Updated as your business evolves, so the forecast stays useful rather than gathering dust.

Included in Grow and Scale plans
02

Budgeting and Management Accounts

A working budget set at the start of the year and tracked against actual results each quarter. Management accounts show where performance is ahead, where it is behind, and what to do about it. Considerably more useful than waiting for the year-end accounts to find out how you did.

Available from Operate plan upwards
03

Business Plans and Financial Projections

A written plan with supporting financial projections — suitable for bank lending, investor conversations or internal planning. Daniel has worked across construction, manufacturing, airlines and entertainment, so he understands what lenders actually want to see and can build projections that hold up to scrutiny.

Why DG Accountancy

What makes business planning advice worth having

Any accountant can produce a spreadsheet. What matters is whether the numbers are grounded in your business, whether the advice is timely, and whether you actually understand what you are looking at.

🎯

Twenty years across real industries

Daniel has worked in airlines, construction, manufacturing and entertainment — industries with very different cash flow profiles, cost structures and planning horizons. That breadth means he is not applying a one-size-fits-all template to your business. He already has a reasonable idea of how your numbers are likely to behave before the first conversation.

Questions answered the same day

Business planning throws up questions at inconvenient times — before a meeting, ahead of a funding conversation, when a number does not look right. DG Accountancy is known for fast replies, so you are not left sitting on a question until your accountant surfaces. The answer arrives when it is still useful.

💬

Plans you can actually read

Financial projections are only useful if the person reading them understands what they are looking at. Daniel writes plans and presents forecasts in plain English — no jargon, no impenetrable model output, no rows of numbers without context. You leave every conversation knowing exactly what the figures mean and what to do next.

Getting started

Up and running in four straightforward steps

Most clients are fully onboarded within a week. The process is designed to be as light on your time as possible — you provide the information, Daniel handles the rest.

1

Book a free discovery call

A short call to talk through your business, your current situation and what you actually need from a business planning conversation. No sales pitch — just an honest assessment of whether there is a fit and what useful output would look like.

2

Receive your fixed-fee quote

You will get a written quote setting out exactly what is included and what it costs each month. Everything is agreed upfront, so there are no surprises when the invoice arrives.

3

Onboarding and cloud set-up

Daniel sets up or connects your Xero account, pulls in your bank feeds, and gathers the financial data needed to start building your forecast or plan. Most clients are fully onboarded within a week, with minimal input required from you.

4

Ongoing planning and support

Your business plan, cash flow forecast and budget are live documents — reviewed and updated as the business moves. You have a responsive accountant to call on when the numbers need explaining or a decision needs a financial sense-check. Which is, frankly, the way it should be.

Questions

What Paignton business owners ask us

Is a business plan from an accountant different from one I could write myself?+

The difference is in the financial model underneath it. A plan written without accounting input often contains projections that do not survive contact with a lender or investor — assumptions that are too optimistic, cost structures that do not add up, or cash flow timings that do not reflect how the business actually gets paid. Daniel builds the financial model from your actual numbers and trading history, which makes the projections defensible rather than aspirational.

What does business planning support cost, and what is included?+

Ongoing business planning support — including management accounts, cash flow forecasting and quarterly reviews — is included in the Grow plan from £395 per month (or £197.50 for the first three months under the current half-price introduction offer). One-off business plans or standalone financial projections are quoted at a fixed fee agreed before work starts. There are no hourly rates and no surprise additions.

My books are behind. Can you still build a useful plan?+

Yes — though a catch-up bookkeeping exercise is usually the first step, because projections built on unreliable historical data are not much use to anyone. Daniel will assess the state of your records during the discovery call and quote for any catch-up work separately, so you know the cost before committing. Most clients with books in some disarray are fully onboarded and working with current data within a few weeks.

Am I locked into a long-term contract?+

No. DG Accountancy operates on a rolling monthly basis with no minimum term beyond the initial onboarding period. If it is not working, you give notice and leave with clean books and any plans or forecasts already produced. There is nothing owed beyond the current month.

Can the business plan be used for a bank loan or funding application?+

Yes. Daniel has experience producing financial projections and supporting documentation for lending purposes — he understands what a lender’s credit team is looking for and will structure the plan accordingly. If you have a specific lender or funder in mind, mention it during the discovery call so the output can be tailored to their requirements.

How often will the cash flow forecast and budget be updated?+

On the Grow and Scale plans, cash flow forecasting and management accounts are reviewed quarterly and monthly respectively — so the numbers are never more than a few weeks out of date. Ad hoc updates are available between scheduled reviews if something material changes in the business, such as a new contract, a significant cost increase or a decision about headcount.
