Sound familiar?
Still not sure what your tax bill is going to be?
Most self-employed people and directors get to November without a clear number in their head. The return sits in a drawer, HMRC’s portal looks more confusing every time you open it, and the January deadline has a way of arriving sooner than expected. Meanwhile, you are probably not claiming everything you are entitled to — not because you are trying to overpay, but because nobody has told you otherwise.
- Return left unfiled because the HMRC portal felt impenetrable
- Expenses missed because no one explained what actually qualifies
- No idea what the tax bill will be until HMRC tells you
What a filed return actually looks like
Daniel takes the whole process off your plate — gathering the numbers, identifying every allowable deduction, filing accurately, and giving you a clear breakdown of exactly what you owe and why. No surprises in January.
- Return prepared and filed, HMRC portal handled from start to finish
- Every allowable expense reviewed — nothing missed that you are entitled to claim
- Tax liability calculated and explained well before the deadline, not after
- Fixed fee agreed before any work starts — no unexpected invoice at the end
What self-employed clients say
These are the people DG Accountancy works with every year — sole traders, directors and self-employed professionals who needed their return handled without the stress.
Huge thanks to Daniel for helping ourselves with our taxes! Being self employed means we all have to do this ourselves which is just not possible on top of our work load. Thanks again! We will be using you again!
Daniel was very helpful with my books and tax return. He offered great advise and insight in how to manage my books better and more efficiently. His knowledge in tax law and what can be used for expenses really helped with saving money where I could.
Everything your Self Assessment needs
One fixed fee covers the full return — from gathering your income sources to filing with HMRC and explaining the outcome in language that actually makes sense.
Your Tax Bill in Advance
Your liability is calculated and communicated well before January — so you can plan for it rather than scramble for it. If you are a director paying yourself through salary and dividends, both income streams are handled together, correctly. No guesswork.
Included as standardEvery Allowance Reviewed
Working from home, mileage, equipment, professional subscriptions — the claims that are legitimately yours are identified before the return is filed. Daniel knows what HMRC accepts and what it does not, so you are not leaving money on the table or filing something that attracts scrutiny.
Included as standardHMRC Handled on Your Behalf
If HMRC has questions, or if you have correspondence you have been ignoring, that is handled directly. You are not left decoding HMRC letters or navigating the helpline. The return is filed, acknowledged and explained — and you know exactly where things stand.
Included as standardConsistently rated five stars across all services
Sole traders, limited company directors and self-employed professionals across Torquay and Devon. Eight verified five-star reviews and counting.
Fast Turnaround Where Deadlines Really Mattered
“I worked with Daniel at DG Accountancy to review and sign off my sole trader accounts for a time-sensitive mortgage application, and the service was excellent. Daniel was extremely responsive, clear, and professional throughout.”
Rates Extremely Good, More For Your Money
“His rates are extremely good compared to some other accountants out there and I get more for my money.”
Patient, Clear, Couldn’t Recommend Enough
“Daniel was very helpful and patient with me when I had no clue what to do and spoke through everything with me and made it clear, couldn’t recommend him enough, thank you again.”
What makes the difference in practice
There are plenty of accountants who will file your return. Fewer will explain what it means, flag what you missed, and reply the same day you ask a question.
Twenty Years Across Real Businesses
Daniel has worked across airlines, construction, manufacturing and entertainment — sectors where the income streams, expenses and tax positions are genuinely varied and complex. That breadth means your return is handled by someone who has seen a wide range of situations, not a standard template applied without thought. You get the benefit of that experience in every return filed.
Questions Answered the Day You Ask
DG Accountancy is known specifically for fast replies and clear communication. You will not wait days for an answer on a simple question, and you will not receive a reply so vague it requires a follow-up. If something has changed in your income this year and you want to know what it means for your tax bill, you will have an answer promptly.
Plain English, Not Accounting Jargon
Your tax return is explained in language that tells you what you actually owe, what you can claim, and why — not just a figure on a portal with no context. For most people, that clarity is worth as much as the filing itself. You leave the process understanding your tax position, not just having discharged it.
Up and running in four steps
Most clients are fully set up within a week. The process is designed to require as little from you as possible beyond sharing the numbers.
Book a free discovery call
A straightforward conversation about your income sources, your current situation and what you need from an accountant. No sales pitch — just an honest discussion about whether this is the right fit and what the return will involve.
Receive your fixed-fee quote
You will get a clear, written quote before any work begins. Everything is agreed upfront — the scope, the fee and the timeline. No surprises when the invoice arrives.
Share your income information
Daniel will tell you exactly what is needed — payslips, bank statements, invoices, property income records, whatever applies to your situation. Secure file sharing keeps the process simple. You provide the documents; everything else is handled.
Filed, explained, done
Your return is prepared, reviewed with you in plain English, and filed with HMRC. You will know your tax liability and the payment deadline before the filing goes in. Then it is done — no January scramble, no guesswork, considerably less to think about.
“Professional service. This company does my accounts every year and i never have to worry about it. Speedy as well. I am a very happy customer.”
Things people usually ask first
I have multiple income sources — employment, self-employment and rental income. Can you handle all of that in one return?
Yes. Returns with mixed income — salary, freelance income, rental receipts, dividends, capital gains — are handled as a single filing. Daniel will work through each income stream, apply the correct treatment and make sure the overall liability is calculated accurately. You will not need to piece together different advisers for different parts of your income.
What does a Self Assessment return cost, and what is included?
Sole trader packages start from £41 per month, with 50% off for the first three months. Self Assessment is included in both sole trader tiers and in the Operate, Grow and Scale limited company packages. For a one-off return without an ongoing package, a fixed fee is quoted before any work begins. Everything agreed upfront — no hourly rates and no invoice you were not expecting.
My records are in a bit of a state. Does that make things complicated?
It is more common than people expect. Daniel will work through what you have, identify what is missing and tell you clearly what is needed to complete the return accurately. If records need reconstructing or catch-up bookkeeping is required, that is scoped separately and quoted upfront before any work starts. The starting point does not need to be tidy.
Is there a long-term contract? What if I only need help with one return?
There is no long-term lock-in. Monthly packages run on a rolling basis and can be cancelled with notice. One-off Self Assessment returns are also available for those who do not need an ongoing relationship — a fixed fee, filed and done. If you decide to continue afterwards, that conversation happens on its own terms.
What is the deadline for filing, and what happens if I have missed it?
The online Self Assessment deadline is 31 January following the end of the tax year. Missing it triggers an automatic £100 penalty, with further charges accruing at three and six months. If you have already missed a deadline, Daniel can file the return and, where grounds exist, assist with appealing penalties through HMRC’s reasonable excuse process. Filing late is better than not filing — the sooner it is done, the smaller the exposure.
Can you help me reduce what I owe, not just file the return?
The return process includes a review of every allowable expense and deduction relevant to your income type — mileage, home office, equipment, professional costs and any sector-specific claims. Beyond the return itself, Daniel can advise on structuring your income more efficiently going forward, including whether incorporation makes sense at your level of earnings. That conversation happens in plain English, with numbers attached.
