Sound familiar?
Your store is growing. Your books are not keeping up.
Ecommerce accounting has a habit of compounding quietly. Marketplace settlement reports do not match the bank. VAT starts to look complicated the moment turnover climbs. And at year-end, someone has to untangle months of transactions that should have been sorted at the time. Most online sellers are running this in the background while also running a business.
- Hours lost trying to reconcile marketplace payouts against bank statements
- No clear view of VAT liability until the quarter is already over
- Tax bill arrives as a surprise because no one was watching the numbers
What sorted looks like
Clean books every month, VAT monitored in real time, and a tax figure you know about before HMRC does. The compliance runs in the background and you get on with selling.
- Payout reports and bank feeds reconciled monthly — no year-end scramble
- VAT position tracked quarterly so you know where you stand before filing
- Corporation Tax or Self Assessment liability visible months before the deadline
- Fixed monthly fee agreed upfront — no hourly rates, no surprise invoices
What business owners say after switching
These are unedited reviews from clients who came to DG Accountancy with books that needed attention and left with considerably less to think about.
Daniel was very helpful with my books and tax return. He offered great advise and insight in how to manage my books better and more efficiently. His knowledge in tax law and what can be used for expenses really helped with saving money where I could.
Huge thanks to Daniel for helping ourselves with our taxes! Being self employed means we all have to do this ourselves which is just not possible on top of our work load. Thanks again! We will be using you again!
Everything an ecommerce seller needs covered
From daily bookkeeping to year-end filings, the services below are what most online retailers need. All delivered online, all on a fixed monthly fee.
Clean Books Every Month
Your Xero account is reconciled monthly against actual sales data, platform fees and returns — not approximations. Bank feeds connect automatically, so the records stay current without you lifting a spreadsheet. At year-end, there is nothing to catch up on.
Included as standardVAT Returns and MTD Compliance
Quarterly VAT returns filed on time, with your threshold monitored throughout the year so you are not caught out by a registration obligation you were not expecting. Making Tax Digital compliance is handled as a matter of course. If your situation changes — new marketplaces, new revenue streams — the VAT position is updated accordingly.
Included from Operate tierTax Planning and Self Assessment
Your personal and company tax position is reviewed proactively, not just at filing time. Allowable expenses are identified, dividend and salary structure is optimised where relevant, and your Self Assessment is filed accurately and on time. You will know the figure well before HMRC does.
Included from Operate tierConsistently rated five stars on Google
Eight verified reviews, all five stars. Clients range from sole traders and self-employed professionals to growing limited companies — all looking for the same thing: an accountant who simply gets on with it.
Turned Around Fast, Done Thoroughly
“Fees were transparent, turnaround was fast, and the work was done thoroughly and accurately. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Daniel to anyone needing reliable accountancy support, particularly where deadlines really matter.”
Spoke Through Everything, Made It Clear
“Daniel was very helpful and patient with me when I had no clue what to do and spoke through everything with me and made it clear, couldn’t recommend him enough, thank you again.”
Quick, Efficient and Friendly Throughout
“Excellent service providing financial accounts for probate. Quick, efficient and friendly. Would highly recommend.”
What makes the difference for online sellers
Most accountants will take on an ecommerce client. Fewer already understand how platform fees, settlement cycles and marketplace VAT actually work.
No explaining how ecommerce works
Platform fees, referral charges, returns processing, settlement timing — you will not spend the first meeting explaining how your business operates before getting anything useful in return. DG Accountancy works with online retailers and marketplace sellers as a matter of course. The questions you get asked are about your numbers, not how Amazon pays out.
Answers arrive the same day
When a VAT question comes up mid-sale or a platform changes its fee structure, waiting three days for a reply is not useful. DG Accountancy is known for fast responses and clear communication. You ask, you get an answer — in plain English, on the day.
Tax visibility built in, not bolted on
Rather than a year-end call with a number you were not expecting, your tax position is visible throughout the year. Management accounts and quarterly reviews mean you can make decisions — on stock, on investment, on drawings — knowing what the tax impact actually is.
Up and running in four steps
Most ecommerce clients are fully onboarded within a week. The process is straightforward and the majority of the work falls on this side of the arrangement.

Xero set-up and onboarding
Your Xero account is set up or tidied up, bank feeds are connected, and platform integrations are configured. Most clients are fully onboarded within a week and need to do very little themselves.
Compliance handled, focus restored
Your books are kept current, your VAT and tax deadlines are met, and you get proactive advice whenever something changes. The compliance runs in the background while you get on with growing the business.
“Professional service. This company does my accounts every year and i never have to worry about it. Speedy as well. I am a very happy customer.”
Things ecommerce sellers usually ask
Do you understand how marketplace payouts, platform fees and settlement reports actually work?
Yes. Ecommerce bookkeeping involves reconciling settlement reports against actual bank receipts, accounting for platform fees, referral charges, returns and promotional credits — none of which map neatly onto a standard bank statement. That is the work. We do it as a matter of course for online retailers and marketplace sellers, so you will not need to explain the basics before getting anything useful.
What does it cost, and what is included?
Pricing is fixed and agreed upfront before anything starts. For limited companies, packages start from £79 per month, covering year-end accounts, Corporation Tax and company registration. Bookkeeping, VAT returns and Self Assessment are included from the Operate tier upwards at £195 per month. Sole trader packages start from £41 per month. There are no hourly rates and no surprise invoices — and the first three months are currently 50% off.
My books are behind or in a bit of a state. Is that a problem?
Not especially. Most new clients arrive with records that need some degree of attention — that is fairly common. A catch-up exercise is quoted separately and clearly before any work begins, so you know exactly what it will cost. Once everything is current, ongoing bookkeeping keeps it that way.
Is there a long-term contract or notice period?
There is no long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with clean, up-to-date books and nothing owed beyond the agreed monthly fee. The aim is to be genuinely useful — not to retain clients through contractual obligation.
I sell on multiple platforms — Amazon, eBay, Shopify, Etsy. Can you handle all of them?
Yes. Multi-platform selling creates additional reconciliation complexity — each platform has its own payout schedule, fee structure and reporting format. Xero integrations and manual reconciliation are used as appropriate to keep the books accurate across all channels. You will not need a separate solution for each platform.
How will I know what my tax bill is going to be before it is due?
That is the point of keeping the books current throughout the year rather than only at year-end. From the Operate tier upwards, quarterly reviews give you a running view of your tax position. From Grow, management accounts make this more detailed. You will know the approximate figure well in advance — which means time to plan, rather than scramble.
