Sound familiar?
Books piling up while you run the business?
It starts with a few weeks of unreconciled transactions. Then the bank feed drifts, the VAT quarter arrives and you are not entirely sure the figures are right. Most Hele business owners did not set up to spend their evenings in spreadsheets. Bookkeeping falls behind not through laziness but because there is always something more pressing.
- Months of unreconciled transactions sitting in Xero or a spreadsheet
- VAT quarter approaching with no clear idea what is owed
- No time to keep records current while actually running the business
What sorted looks like
Clean records every month, VAT returns filed on time, and a clear view of where the business stands. You hand over the bookkeeping and focus on the work that actually earns money.
- Xero reconciled and up to date every single month — no backlogs
- VAT liability visible well before each quarter closes — no surprises
- Bookkeeping handled for you so your evenings stay yours
- Fixed monthly fee agreed upfront — you always know what you are paying
What bookkeeping clients say
These are the kinds of results Hele business owners tell us about — accurate records, useful advice and a process that fits around how they actually work.
Daniel was very helpful with my books and tax return. He offered great advise and insight in how to manage my books better and more efficiently. His knowledge in tax law and what can be used for expenses really helped with saving money where I could. As a sole trader it’s really hard to keep on top of things and have now asked Dan to do monthly books for me. His rates are extremely good compared to some other accountants out there and I get more for my money.
I worked with Daniel at DG Accountancy to review and sign off my sole trader accounts for a time-sensitive mortgage application, and the service was excellent. Daniel was extremely responsive, clear, and professional throughout. He understood exactly what the lender required, turned everything around very quickly without cutting corners. Communication was straightforward and reassuring, which made a potentially stressful part of the mortgage process much easier. Fees were transparent, turnaround was fast, and the work was done thoroughly and accurately. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Daniel to anyone needing reliable accountancy support, particularly where deadlines really matter.

What makes the difference for Hele businesses
There is no shortage of bookkeepers. What matters is whether yours knows your numbers, replies promptly and explains things without the jargon.
20 Years Across Real Businesses
Daniel has worked in airlines, construction, manufacturing and entertainment — which means he has seen how different types of business actually operate, not just how the textbooks say they should. When a question comes up about whether something is an allowable expense or how to categorise an unusual transaction, the answer comes from experience rather than guesswork. You are not a learning exercise.
Replies Arrive the Same Day
A bookkeeping question that sits unanswered for three days tends to become a small anxiety that quietly grows. DG Accountancy is known specifically for fast, clear responses — not as a marketing claim but as something clients mention consistently in reviews. You ask, you get an answer, you move on.
Cloud-Based and Always Current
Everything runs through Xero, with bank feeds connected so your records update automatically. There are no spreadsheets to email back and forth and no waiting until year-end to find out what your figures look like. As a Xero Bronze Partner, setup and ongoing support are included.

Things Hele clients usually ask first
Do you actually handle bookkeeping for businesses in Hele specifically, or is this just a local landing page?
DG Accountancy is based in Torquay and serves businesses across Hele and the surrounding area, as well as clients throughout the UK. All bookkeeping is delivered online via Xero, so your location makes no practical difference to the quality or speed of the service. Being local does mean Daniel understands the kinds of businesses operating in this part of Devon, which is not nothing.
What does bookkeeping cost and what exactly is included?
Sole trader bookkeeping starts from £41 per month, and limited company packages from £79 per month, with 50% off the first three months. Every quote is fixed and agreed upfront — there are no hourly rates and no bill at the end of the month that differs from what was agreed. The quote covers your monthly reconciliation, bank feed maintenance and MTD compliance; VAT returns and payroll are included in higher-tier packages or available as add-ons.
My books are behind — possibly quite a bit behind. Is that a problem?
It is a common starting point. Most new clients arrive with records in some state of disarray, whether that is three months of unreconciled transactions or a year of missing receipts. Catch-up bookkeeping is handled as part of onboarding, priced separately depending on how much work is involved. The cost is confirmed upfront before any work begins, so there are no surprises. Once you are current, the monthly service keeps you there.
Is there a long-term contract or a minimum commitment?
There is no long-term contract. Monthly packages run on a rolling basis and you can leave with one month’s notice. The no-long-term-contract position is straightforward — if the service is not working for you, you should not be locked in. What you will leave with is clean, up-to-date books, which is more than most people started with.
Do I need to know how to use Xero before we start?
No. Xero setup, bank feed connections and ongoing maintenance are all handled by DG Accountancy. If you already have a Xero account that needs tidying, that is handled during onboarding. If you want to log in and check your numbers yourself, the dashboard is readable without any accounting knowledge — and Daniel will explain what you are looking at if anything is unclear.
Will I get any visibility of my tax position throughout the year, or just at year-end?
One of the practical benefits of current bookkeeping is that your tax position is visible throughout the year, not just when HMRC sends a reminder. VAT liabilities are tracked each quarter and corporation tax or income tax estimates can be discussed at any point. Knowing what is likely to be owed with reasonable accuracy — months before it is due — tends to make the payment considerably less alarming.
