Sound familiar?
Still not sure what your tax bill will be this year?
It is a surprisingly common situation. The year ticks along, receipts accumulate, and the tax position stays somewhere in the background — vague and unresolved. By the time a deadline appears on the horizon, there is little room to plan. For most Torbay business owners and self-employed professionals, the problem is not complexity. It is simply that no one is keeping an eye on the numbers between filings.
- No clear view of your tax liability until the deadline is close
- Allowances and reliefs missed because no one reviewed them proactively
- Hours spent chasing your accountant for a straight answer
What a decent tax advisor looks like
You know your tax position before it becomes a problem. Allowances are reviewed as part of the service, not flagged as an afterthought. And when you have a question, it gets answered the day you ask it.
- Your tax bill visible months in advance, not weeks before it is due
- Allowances, reliefs and planning opportunities reviewed every year as standard
- Questions answered same day — no waiting, no chasing
- Fixed monthly fee agreed upfront, so there are no surprise invoices
What Torbay clients say about the tax work
From sole traders filing their first return to limited company directors reviewing their tax position, the feedback centres on one thing: clear advice that actually saves money.
Daniel was very helpful with my books and tax return. He offered great advise and insight in how to manage my books better and more efficiently. His knowledge in tax law and what can be used for expenses really helped with saving money where I could. As a sole trader it’s really hard to keep on top of things and have now asked Dan to do monthly books for me. His rates are extremely good compared to some other accountants out there and I get more for my money.
Huge thanks to Daniel for helping ourselves with our taxes! Being self employed means we all have to do this ourselves which is just not possible on top of our work load. Thanks again! We will be using you again!
Tax advisory that goes beyond the filing
Three core areas of tax support, delivered as part of a fixed monthly fee — compliance handled, planning included, and communication that does not require a follow-up email.
Self Assessment and Personal Tax
Your Self Assessment return is prepared, reviewed and filed accurately and on time — with your tax liability confirmed well before the January deadline. Director returns, partnership returns and complex income streams with multiple sources are all handled as standard. You will know what you owe before HMRC sends a reminder.
Included in monthly packagesCorporation Tax and Year-End Accounts
Your CT600 return and statutory accounts are filed with Companies House and HMRC on schedule, with your corporation tax liability calculated and explained in plain English. Quarterly reviews mean the year-end position is never a surprise. Dividend planning and director remuneration are reviewed as part of the service.
Included in all limited company packagesProactive Tax Planning and Advice
Tax planning is part of the ongoing service, not an optional add-on billed at an hourly rate. Reliefs, allowances and structural considerations are reviewed annually — or quarterly on the higher-tier packages. If something changes in your business or in HMRC rules that affects your position, you will hear about it.
Reviewed annually as standardConsistently five stars across every engagement
From time-sensitive mortgage applications to annual accounts filed without a second thought — clients across different situations arrive at the same conclusion.
Stressful Mortgage Process Made Straightforward
“I worked with Daniel at DG Accountancy to review and sign off my sole trader accounts for a time-sensitive mortgage application, and the service was excellent. Daniel was extremely responsive, clear, and professional throughout. He understood exactly what the lender required, turned everything around very quickly without cutting corners.”
Explains Every Detail Meticulously and Professionally
“Absolutely recommend Daniel for all and any accounts related matter. Would use his expertise again. He is the most amazing person, very professional, explaining every detail meticulously in order to finalise our accounts. A huge thank you Daniel.”
Annual Accounts Filed Without A Second Worry
“Professional service. This company does my accounts every year and i never have to worry about it. Speedy as well. I am a very happy customer.”
What makes this different from most tax advisors in Torbay
Three reasons clients switch to DG Accountancy and then stay.
Tax Advice Grounded in Real Experience
Daniel has worked across airlines, construction, manufacturing and entertainment over 20 years. That breadth means he has seen how tax issues present themselves in practice across very different business models — not just in textbooks. You will not need to spend the first appointment explaining how your industry works.
Questions Answered the Day You Ask
Most accountants are responsive until you sign the engagement letter. DG Accountancy’s reputation is built on the opposite: fast replies are the standard, not the exception. If you send a question on a Tuesday morning, you will have a clear answer by Tuesday afternoon.
Plain English, Not Accountant-Speak
Tax legislation is complicated. Explaining it does not have to be. Daniel translates your obligations, your options and your opportunities into language that makes sense — so you can make decisions with confidence rather than nodding along and hoping for the best.
Up and running in four straightforward steps
Most clients are fully onboarded within a week. The process is designed to require as little from you as possible at the start.
Book a free discovery call
A short conversation about your business, your current set-up and what you actually need from a tax advisor. No sales pitch — just an honest assessment of whether DG Accountancy is the right fit. You will leave the call knowing exactly what happens next.
Receive your fixed-fee quote
A clear, written quote tailored to your business structure and the services you need. Everything is agreed upfront — no hidden hourly rates, no scope creep invoices later. If it does not make sense for your situation, that will be said plainly.
Onboarding and cloud setup
Your Xero account is set up or tidied up, bank feeds are connected, and any outstanding records are brought up to date. Most clients are fully onboarded within a week. You do not need to do much beyond making a couple of introductions and sharing access.
Ongoing support and advice
Your compliance runs on schedule, your tax position is reviewed proactively, and questions get answered the day you ask them. The work that used to sit on your to-do list gets handled — and you will actually understand your numbers, which is rather the point.
“Excellent service providing financial accounts for probate. Quick, efficient and friendly. Would highly recommend.”
Things people usually ask before getting started
I have a mix of income — employment, self-employment and some rental income. Can you handle all of it in one return?
Yes, and this is more common than most people assume. A Self Assessment with multiple income streams — PAYE employment, self-employed trading income, rental income, dividends — is prepared as a single return with all sources reconciled. The tax liability is calculated across all of them, with any reliefs and allowances applied correctly. You will know the total position before it is filed.
What does tax advice actually cost, and what is included?
Pricing is fixed and agreed in writing before any work begins. For sole traders, monthly packages start from £41. Limited company packages start from £79 per month and include year-end accounts, Corporation Tax returns and Self Assessment for the director. There are no hourly rates and no surprise invoices. A 50 per cent discount applies to the first three months on both sole trader and limited company packages.
My records are a mess. Will that be a problem for getting started?
It is not unusual. Most clients arrive with books in some degree of disorder — missing receipts, uncategorised transactions, a year or two of catch-up required. A catch-up bookkeeping quote is provided upfront so you know the one-off cost before committing. Once everything is current, the ongoing monthly service takes over and keeps it that way.
Is there a long-term contract? What happens if I want to leave?
There is no long-term lock-in. If the arrangement is not working after three months, you leave with clean, up-to-date books and nothing further owed. Notice terms are straightforward and set out in the engagement letter. The intention is that you stay because the service is worth it — not because leaving is complicated.
Do you only work with businesses in Torbay, or can you help me if I am based elsewhere in Devon?
DG Accountancy operates as a fully online practice and works with clients across the whole of the UK. Everything is handled remotely via Xero, video calls and secure file sharing — no in-person meetings required. Being based in Torquay means a local understanding of the Torbay and Devon business landscape, but geography does not limit who can be a client.
How far in advance will I know what my tax bill is going to be?
On the higher-tier packages, your tax position is reviewed quarterly, which means you typically have a clear view of your likely liability several months before the filing deadline. On the entry-level packages, an annual review is carried out with enough lead time to plan any payment. The aim is that a tax bill is never a surprise — which is, frankly, the way it should be.
Stop guessing what your tax bill will be. Get it sorted.
