Explained Everything Clearly, No Confusion

“Daniel was very helpful and patient with me when I had no clue what to do and spoke through everything with me and made it clear.”

Sound familiar?

Books behind and tax position anyone’s guess?

It starts with a few weeks of unreconciled transactions. Then a quarter goes by and the bank feed has not been touched. By the time year-end arrives, nobody has a clear picture of what the business actually owes HMRC — and the scramble to piece it together costs time, money and a fair amount of stress. It is a very common situation, and an entirely avoidable one.

  • Months of unreconciled transactions piling up in Xero or a spreadsheet
  • No clear view of your tax liability until the accountant calls in a panic
  • Making Tax Digital deadlines looming with records nowhere near ready

What sorted looks like

Your books are reconciled monthly, your bank feeds run automatically, and your records are MTD-compliant without you doing any of it. You know where you stand at any point in the year — which is, frankly, the way it should be.

  • Transactions reconciled monthly in Xero — nothing left sitting unmatched
  • Tax position visible in real time, not assembled under deadline pressure
  • MTD-compliant records maintained continuously, with bank feeds connected
  • Fixed monthly fee agreed upfront — no surprise bills when you need help most

What clients say about the bookkeeping

From sole traders getting on top of their records for the first time to limited companies needing monthly management of their books.

★★★★★

Daniel was very helpful with my books and tax return. He offered great advise and insight in how to manage my books better and more efficiently. His knowledge in tax law and what can be used for expenses really helped with saving money where I could. As a sole trader it’s really hard to keep on top of things and have now asked Dan to do monthly books for me. His rates are extremely good compared to some other accountants out there and I get more for my money.

What you get

Everything your bookkeeping should cover

Monthly bookkeeping is the foundation everything else is built on. Get it right and VAT, tax and year-end all become considerably more straightforward.

01

Monthly Cloud Bookkeeping

Your transactions are categorised, reconciled and kept current every month in Xero. Bank feeds connect directly, so there is no manual data entry and nothing waiting to be matched at year-end. You can log in at any point and see where the business stands.

Included as standard
02

MTD Compliance and VAT Readiness

Making Tax Digital requires digital records and compliant submissions — both of which are built into how the bookkeeping is maintained. Your records are MTD-ready from day one, and VAT returns can be filed directly from Xero when they are due. No last-minute data gathering required.

Built in from day one
03

Catch-Up and Historical Bookkeeping

If the books are behind — by months or longer — that is a straightforward problem to fix before setting up a clean monthly routine going forward. A catch-up engagement brings everything current, and the ongoing service takes it from there. The cost of the catch-up is quoted separately and agreed before work begins.

Why DG Accountancy

What makes this different from most bookkeeping services

The books are maintained by an ACCA-qualified accountant with 20 years of experience across multiple industries — not outsourced, not delegated to a junior, and not buried in a ticket queue.

🎯

No Explaining Your Business First

Daniel has worked across airlines, construction, manufacturing and entertainment, which means he already has a reasonable sense of how different businesses are structured, what their costs look like, and where the bookkeeping complications tend to appear. You will not spend the first three months bringing him up to speed.

Questions Answered the Day You Ask

Most bookkeeping queries are not complicated — they just need a prompt, sensible answer from someone who knows the account. DG Accountancy is known for fast replies and clear communication. You will not be waiting days for a response to something that took 30 seconds to answer.

☁️

Xero-Based, Automated and Accessible

Everything runs through Xero with bank feeds connected, so your records update automatically and you can log in at any point to see current figures. No spreadsheets to share, no receipts to post, and no waiting for the accountant to open a desktop file before you can get an answer.

Getting started

Up and running in four steps

Most clients are fully onboarded within a week. The process is straightforward and requires very little from you at each stage.

1

Book a free discovery call

A short call to understand your business, your current bookkeeping set-up, and what you actually need. No sales pitch — just an honest conversation about whether DG Accountancy is the right fit and what that would look like in practice.

2

Receive your fixed-fee quote

You will get a clear, written quote tailored to your business structure and the services required. Everything is agreed upfront, so you know exactly what you are paying before anything starts. No hourly rates, no estimates that shift later.

3

Xero set-up and onboarding

Your Xero account is set up (or tidied up if one already exists), bank feeds are connected, and any catch-up work is scoped and completed. You do almost nothing — the information needed is gathered efficiently and the heavy lifting is handled.

4

Books maintained, tax visible

From there, your records are kept current every month and your tax position is visible whenever you need it. You are not chasing your accountant, not guessing what you owe, and not leaving compliance to the last possible moment. Which is, frankly, the way it should work.

Questions

What people usually ask before getting started

Do you only do bookkeeping, or does it connect to VAT and year-end as well?+

Bookkeeping is the foundation everything else is built on. When the records are maintained correctly in Xero throughout the year, VAT returns are straightforward to prepare and file, and year-end accounts require far less reconstruction work. Many clients start with bookkeeping and add VAT or payroll as part of the same package — it all flows from the same set of records.

What does bookkeeping cost, and what is included in the monthly fee?+

Sole trader bookkeeping packages start from £41 per month, and limited company packages from £79 per month, with 50% off for the first three months. The monthly fee covers ongoing transaction reconciliation, bank feed management and MTD-compliant records. VAT filing, payroll and other services can be included or added depending on the package. Your quote is fixed, written and agreed before anything starts — no hourly rates and no bills that arrive unexpectedly.

My books are months behind. Is that a problem before switching?+

It is a very common situation and not a reason to delay. A catch-up engagement is scoped at the outset, costed separately and completed before the ongoing monthly service begins. The cost of the catch-up depends on how far behind the records are and what software is currently in use — that is all discussed and agreed before any work starts.

Is there a long-term contract, or can I leave if it is not working?+

There is no long-term contract. Services run month-to-month, and you can leave with a month’s notice. If the arrangement is not working, you leave with clean, up-to-date records and nothing further owed. The aim is that the service is worth staying for, not that leaving is difficult.

Which software do you use, and do I need to buy a Xero subscription separately?+

All bookkeeping is carried out in Xero. As a Xero Bronze Partner, DG Accountancy can arrange access to Xero as part of the engagement — this is discussed during onboarding. If you already have a Xero subscription, it can be connected directly. Either way, the set-up is handled and you will not be expected to configure anything yourself.

Will I be able to see my tax position during the year, not just at year-end?+

Yes — that is one of the practical benefits of keeping the books current throughout the year rather than reconstructing them at year-end. With Xero updated monthly, your profit and tax liability can be estimated at any point, giving you time to plan rather than react. On the Grow and Scale packages, management accounts and cash flow forecasting build on this further.
