Budgeting Services Paignton

Know where your money is going, before it goes.

Most Paignton business owners find out their cash position too late — at year end, or when the bank balance drops. DG Accountancy produces clear, monthly budgets and cash flow forecasts so you stay ahead of it. Fixed monthly fee, ACCA-qualified accountant, replies the day you ask.

  • Monthly budget vs actuals tracked and reported in plain English
  • Cash flow forecasts updated so you can plan spending with confidence
  • Your tax position visible months before any deadline arrives
  • One accountant throughout — no juniors, no handoffs, no repetition

No long-term contract. If it is not the right fit after three months, you leave with tidy books and nothing owed.

Sound familiar?

Running the business fine. Not sure where the money went.

Plenty of Paignton business owners are turning over a reasonable amount and still ending the month confused about the numbers. Revenue looks fine until it does not. Spending decisions get made on gut feel because there is nothing more current to go on. A budget exists somewhere — probably a spreadsheet from eighteen months ago — and it bears no resemblance to how the business actually runs.

  • No clear budget to measure actual spending against each month
  • Cash flow surprises arriving at the worst possible moment
  • Tax bill at year end is always a guess until the accountant calls

What having a budget actually looks like

A working budget is not a document you file and forget. It is a live comparison between what you planned and what happened, updated monthly, with a cash flow forecast attached. That is what you get here — produced in Xero, explained in plain English.

  • Monthly budget vs actuals report so overspending is visible immediately
  • Rolling cash flow forecast updated so surprises largely stop arriving
  • Tax liability visible and planned for well before the deadline
  • Fixed monthly fee agreed upfront — no hourly rate surprises

★★★★★

Daniel was very helpful with my books and tax return. He offered great advise and insight in how to manage my books better and more efficiently. His knowledge in tax law and what can be used for expenses really helped with saving money where I could. As a sole trader it’s really hard to keep on top of things and have now asked Dan to do monthly books for me. His rates are extremely good compared to some other accountants out there and I get more for my money.

What you get

Budgeting and forecasting, done properly

Three components that work together to give you a clear picture of where your business stands and where it is heading.

01

Monthly Budget vs Actuals

Your income and spending is measured against an agreed budget every month, so you know exactly where you are tracking ahead or behind. Reports are produced in Xero and written in plain English — no spreadsheet archaeology required. Variances are flagged before they become problems.

Included in Grow and Scale plans
02

Cash Flow Forecasting

A rolling cash flow forecast shows what your bank balance is likely to look like over the coming weeks and months, based on your current trading. That means spending decisions — stock, equipment, hiring — can be made with something more reliable than intuition. The 13-week model is included in the Scale plan; quarterly forecasting from Grow upward.

Included from Grow plan
03

Tax Liability Planning

Knowing your corporation tax or self assessment bill well in advance means you can set money aside rather than scramble for it in January. Your tax position is reviewed as part of the budgeting process, not bolted on at year end. Proactive flagging of allowances and reliefs is part of the service, not an extra.

Fast Turnaround, Transparent Fees, Thorough Work

“I worked with Daniel at DG Accountancy to review and sign off my sole trader accounts for a time-sensitive mortgage application, and the service was excellent. Daniel was extremely responsive, clear, and professional throughout. He understood exactly what the lender required, turned everything around very quickly without cutting corners. Communication was straightforward and reassuring, which made a potentially stressful part of the mortgage process much easier. Fees were transparent, turnaround was fast, and the work was done thoroughly and accurately. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Daniel to anyone needing reliable accountancy support, particularly where deadlines really matter.”

Why DG Accountancy

What makes the difference for Paignton businesses

Three things that distinguish this practice from a standard compliance accountant.

📊

Numbers Explained, Not Just Filed

A budget report is only useful if you understand what it is telling you. Daniel writes management reports in plain English and walks you through the numbers so you actually know what action to take. You will not receive a spreadsheet with a brief email and be left to work it out.

Questions Answered The Same Day

Budgeting throws up questions mid-month — a large invoice lands, a customer pays late, a purchase needs approving. DG Accountancy is known for responding quickly, so you get an answer while the decision still matters. Waiting days for a reply on a time-sensitive question is not how this works.

🎯

Twenty Years Across Real Businesses

Daniel has worked in airlines, construction, manufacturing and entertainment — sectors where cash flow discipline and accurate forecasting are not optional. That cross-sector experience means he already understands the pressures your business faces before you explain them, and can model your finances accordingly.

Getting started

Up and running in four steps

Most clients are fully onboarded within a week. Here is what the process looks like from your end.

1

Book a free discovery call

We will talk through your business, your current set-up, and what you need from a budgeting and forecasting service. No sales pitch — just an honest conversation about whether it is the right fit and what it would cost.

2

Receive your fixed-fee quote

You will get a clear, written quote tailored to your business structure and the level of reporting you need. Everything is agreed upfront, so there are no surprises on the first invoice.

3

Xero setup and onboarding

We set up or tidy your Xero account, connect bank feeds, and build your budget framework. You provide access — we handle the configuration. Most clients are fully operational within a week.

4

Monthly reports, ongoing support

Each month your budget vs actuals lands in your inbox with a plain-English summary of what matters. Your cash flow forecast is kept current. You can ask questions whenever they come up and expect an answer the same day. Which is, frankly, how it should work.

Questions

Things people usually ask before starting

Do you build budgets from scratch or work with what we already have?+

Both. If you have an existing budget — even a rough spreadsheet — we can work from that as a starting point and build it into something more structured. If you have nothing, we will build a budget framework from your historical figures in Xero, tailored to your business model and cost structure. Either way, you end up with something you can actually use month to month.

What does budgeting and forecasting cost, and what is included?+

Management accounts and cash flow forecasting are included from the Grow plan, which starts from £395 per month. The Scale plan, from £695 per month, adds monthly management accounts and a 13-week rolling cash flow model. All pricing is fixed and agreed before anything starts — no hourly rates, no surprise invoices at the end of the month. A free quote takes about 15 minutes to produce.

Our books are behind and inconsistent — is that a problem?+

It is a fairly common starting point. We will assess what needs catching up during the onboarding call and include any catch-up bookkeeping in your quote before anything is agreed. Once the historical records are tidy, we can build a reliable budget baseline. It is usually not as bad as people fear, and we will tell you honestly what it involves.

Is there a long-term contract?+

No. There is no minimum term beyond the initial month. If the service is not working for you, you give notice and leave with clean, up-to-date records. The fixed monthly fee covers everything agreed — there are no exit penalties or retention clauses to navigate.

How often will I actually receive a budget report?+

Monthly, as standard on the Grow and Scale plans. You receive a budget vs actuals report shortly after month end, along with an updated cash flow forecast and a short written summary of anything that warrants attention. If something material changes mid-month — an unexpected cost, a large payment due — that gets flagged without waiting for the monthly report cycle.

Can the budget feed into tax planning as well?+

Yes, and it should. A current budget makes it straightforward to estimate your corporation tax or self assessment liability well in advance of any deadline. That means you can set funds aside rather than face a bill you were not expecting. Proactive tax planning is included as part of the ongoing service — it is not a separate conversation that requires a separate fee.
