Sound familiar?
Still not sure what your personal tax bill will be?
Personal tax is one of those things that rarely gets the attention it deserves until the Self Assessment deadline is close and the number is larger than expected. Allowances go unclaimed, income from multiple sources piles up unplanned, and what could have been managed turns into a scramble. It is not complexity for its own sake — it is just a conversation that never happened.
- ✕ Tax bill arrives as a surprise because nobody planned ahead
- ✕ Allowances and reliefs missed because the rules were never explained
- ✕ Multiple income sources — employment, property, dividends — handled in isolation
What planned personal tax looks like
When someone is looking at your full picture throughout the year, the surprises largely stop. You understand what you owe and why, months in advance, and you are not leaving money on the table through unclaimed allowances.
- ✓ Tax position reviewed proactively so the bill is known well in advance
- ✓ Allowances, reliefs and planning options explained and applied where valid
- ✓ All income streams considered together — employment, dividends, rental, capital gains
- ✓ Fixed monthly fee agreed upfront — no unexpected charges at year end
What clients say about personal tax support
From sole traders filing their first return to directors managing multiple income streams, here is what working with Daniel looks like in practice.
Daniel was very helpful with my books and tax return. He offered great advise and insight in how to manage my books better and more efficiently. His knowledge in tax law and what can be used for expenses really helped with saving money where I could. As a sole trader it’s really hard to keep on top of things and have now asked Dan to do monthly books for me. His rates are extremely good compared to some other accountants out there and I get more for my money.
I worked with Daniel at DG Accountancy to review and sign off my sole trader accounts for a time-sensitive mortgage application, and the service was excellent. Daniel was extremely responsive, clear, and professional throughout. He understood exactly what the lender required, turned everything around very quickly without cutting corners. Communication was straightforward and reassuring, which made a potentially stressful part of the mortgage process much easier. Fees were transparent, turnaround was fast, and the work was done thoroughly and accurately. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Daniel to anyone needing reliable accountancy support, particularly where deadlines really matter.
Personal tax planning, done properly
Three core elements make up a well-managed personal tax position — and all three are included as standard rather than treated as optional extras.
Self Assessment, Filed Accurately
Your Self Assessment return is prepared and filed on time, with every relevant income stream, allowance and relief considered. You receive a plain-English summary of the calculation before anything is submitted. No last-minute scrambles, no penalty notices.
Included as standardProactive Tax Planning Year-Round
Rather than reviewing your tax position once a year in January, Daniel looks at it throughout the year — flagging opportunities to use allowances, structure income efficiently, and avoid avoidable liability. The conversation happens before decisions are made, not after.
Ongoing throughout the yearMultiple Income Streams, One Clear View
Employment income, director’s salary and dividends, rental income, capital gains, freelance earnings — each source has its own rules and interactions. They are handled together rather than in isolation, so nothing falls through the gaps and the overall position makes sense.

What makes personal tax planning here different
Three things that distinguish working with Daniel from sending documents to an accountant you rarely hear from.
Twenty Years Across Real Businesses
Daniel has worked across airlines, construction, manufacturing and entertainment — sectors where income structures, allowable expenses and tax planning vary considerably. That breadth means he understands how different types of income interact without needing a lengthy explanation of your situation first. You get considered advice, not a generic return.
Plain English, Not Tax Jargon
Tax legislation is dense and the instinct in the profession is often to present the complexity rather than simplify it. Daniel does the opposite — the calculation, the options and the reasoning are explained in language that makes sense. You will know what you owe, why you owe it, and what could be done differently next time.
Questions Answered the Day You Ask
DG Accountancy is known, specifically, for fast responses. Not a promise that replies will be prompt — an established pattern that they are. When a question arises mid-year about a property sale, a new income stream or a pension contribution, the answer does not sit in a queue for a week.
Up and running in four straightforward steps
Most clients are fully onboarded within a week. The process is designed to involve as little effort on your part as possible.
Book a free discovery call
A conversation about your current situation, your income sources, and what you want from a tax planning service. No sales pitch — just an honest discussion about whether it makes sense to work together.
Receive your fixed-fee quote
You get a clear, written quote based on what you actually need. The fee is agreed upfront and does not change unless your situation changes materially. No billable hours, no surprises.
Onboarding and cloud setup
Daniel gathers what he needs — prior returns, income summaries, existing records — and sets up your Xero account if relevant. Most of this requires minimal effort from you.
Your tax position, in view all year
From here, your personal tax position is monitored and managed throughout the year. You know what is coming before HMRC tells you, allowances are claimed, and decisions get made with accurate numbers behind them — which is, frankly, the way it should have been all along.
“Excellent service providing financial accounts for probate. Quick, efficient and friendly. Would highly recommend.”
A few things people usually ask
Can you handle personal tax if I have several income sources — employment, dividends, rental and a side business?
Yes, and it is worth doing them together rather than in isolation. Each income type interacts with the others in ways that affect your overall liability — the personal allowance, higher-rate thresholds, the dividend allowance, property income rules. Looking at all of them at once means nothing gets missed and the planning is based on the full picture rather than one piece of it.
What does personal tax planning cost and what is included?
The fee is fixed and agreed upfront before work begins — there are no hourly rates or unexpected charges. What is included depends on your situation: Self Assessment filing, income source review, proactive planning conversations and ongoing advice throughout the year are all standard elements. You will receive a written quote after the initial call, so the cost is clear before you commit to anything.
My records are not in great shape and I am not sure my previous returns were filed correctly. Is that a problem?
It is more common than most people admit. The first step is to review what has been filed previously and identify anything that looks wrong or incomplete. Where an amendment is needed, that is handled as part of the process. Incomplete records from prior years can usually be reconstructed with the information available. It is considerably easier to address now than to leave it.
Is there a long-term contract? What happens if I want to leave?
There is no long-term lock-in. If it is not working, you are not obligated to stay. You leave with your records in order, your returns filed up to date, and nothing owed beyond the work completed. The aim is to make the service good enough that leaving does not come up — but the option is always there.
Can you help with capital gains tax if I have sold a property or investments this year?
Yes. Capital gains from property disposals need to be reported to HMRC within 60 days of completion in most cases, and the rules around principal private residence relief, lettings relief and the annual exempt amount are specific. Investment gains are handled differently again. Both are areas where planning before the disposal — or at least prompt reporting after it — makes a material difference to the outcome.
How far in advance can you give me a reasonable estimate of my personal tax bill?
In most cases, a reasonable estimate of your position is possible several months before the January deadline — sometimes as early as the start of the tax year if your income is relatively predictable. That window is what makes planning possible. Once the year is over, the options narrow considerably, so the earlier the picture is clear, the more useful the advice.
