Company Formation Devon
Your limited company, properly set up from day one.
Most people form their company online in five minutes and then spend the next six months wondering what filings they owe HMRC. There is a more straightforward approach. DG Accountancy handles the Companies House registration, HMRC notifications and Xero setup as part of a fixed monthly package — ACCA-qualified, Devon-based, same-day replies during office hours.
- Company registered at Companies House, correctly structured from the start
- HMRC notifications handled — Corporation Tax, VAT and PAYE where relevant
- Xero cloud accounting live before you take your first payment
- Confirmation statements and ongoing compliance managed so nothing gets missed
No long-term contract. If the first three months do not feel right, you leave with clean books, a properly formed company and nothing further owed.

Sound familiar?
Registered the company. Now what?
Forming a company through Companies House takes about ten minutes. Understanding what happens next — Corporation Tax registration deadlines, confirmation statement due dates, whether you need to register for VAT or PAYE, how to pay yourself tax-efficiently — takes rather longer. Most new limited company directors figure this out reactively, after something has already been missed.
- ✕ Unsure whether limited company is the right structure for your situation
- ✕ Company registered but no idea which HMRC deadlines are already counting down
- ✕ No accounting system in place and trading has already started
What a proper setup looks like
Company formation done well means more than a certificate from Companies House. It means the right structure chosen with your tax position in mind, every HMRC registration handled, and a cloud accounting system live before your first invoice goes out.
- ✓ Structure reviewed upfront — sole trader or limited company, with the reasons explained clearly
- ✓ All HMRC registrations confirmed — CT, VAT threshold monitored, PAYE set up if needed
- ✓ Xero connected and bank feeds live before you start trading
- ✓ Fixed monthly fee from £79 — everything agreed in writing before you commit
What Devon business owners say
Clients who came in unsure about structure, filings or what they were even paying for — and left knowing exactly where they stood.
Daniel was very helpful with my books and tax return. He offered great advise and insight in how to manage my books better and more efficiently. His knowledge in tax law and what can be used for expenses really helped with saving money where I could. As a sole trader it’s really hard to keep on top of things and have now asked Dan to do monthly books for me. His rates are extremely good compared to some other accountants out there and I get more for my money.
Professional service. This company does my accounts every year and i never have to worry about it. Speedy as well. I am a very happy customer.
Everything your new company actually needs
Company formation is the starting point. What matters is what happens in the months that follow — the filings, the deadlines, the tax decisions made early that are hard to undo later.
Company Formation and Secretarial
Your company is registered at Companies House with the correct SIC codes and share structure. The registered office service means official HMRC and Companies House correspondence is handled rather than landing in a drawer. Confirmation statements are filed annually so the public record stays accurate.
Included in all packagesHMRC Registrations and Compliance
Corporation Tax registration is notified to HMRC within the statutory deadline — not something you want to leave to chance. VAT threshold monitoring means you will not cross £90,000 turnover without knowing about it in advance. PAYE and CIS are set up correctly if you are paying employees or working in construction.
Handled from day oneCloud Accounting Setup on Xero
Your Xero account is configured before you start trading — chart of accounts tailored to your business, bank feeds connected, invoice templates ready. Most clients are fully onboarded within a week. No shoebox of receipts at year-end, and no scramble to reconstruct the first twelve months.
Live within the weekConsistent results, different businesses
Sole traders, limited companies and everything in between — the reviews cover a range of situations but the pattern is the same: fast, clear, no surprises.
Quick, Efficient and Friendly Throughout
“Excellent service providing financial accounts for probate. Quick, efficient and friendly. Would highly recommend.”
Fantastic Service, No Qualification Needed
“Fantastic service provided. Thank you.”
Professional, Detailed, Every Step Explained
“He is the most amazing person, very professional, explaining every detail meticulously in order to finalise our accounts. A huge thank you Daniel.”
What makes this different from filing it yourself
Any formation agent will register your company. What you actually need is someone who understands the decisions that matter before the paperwork is submitted.
Structure Advice Before the Filing
Sole trader or limited company — and if limited, how to hold shares, whether a spouse or partner should be involved, and how to pay yourself efficiently from day one. These decisions have tax consequences that run for years. Getting them right at formation costs a conversation. Getting them wrong costs considerably more to unwind.
Every HMRC Deadline Tracked for You
A new limited company has Corporation Tax registration due within three months of incorporation, a confirmation statement due annually, and a first set of accounts due nine months after the accounting period ends. None of these are flagged by Companies House. They are tracked here, so you do not find out about a missed deadline from a penalty notice.
Properly Set Up, Not Just Registered
Formation and ongoing accounting handled by the same person means your Xero account reflects your actual share structure, your payroll is configured to match your director salary from month one, and your VAT position is considered before you hit the threshold. Nothing needs to be retrofitted later.
Your company up and running in four steps
From initial conversation to trading-ready limited company, most clients are fully set up within a week. Here is what that looks like.
Book a free discovery call
A short conversation about your business, your current situation and what you are trying to achieve. No sales pitch — just an honest discussion about whether limited company is the right move, and what the setup would involve. You will leave the call knowing exactly what happens next.
Receive your fixed-fee quote
A written quote covering company formation, HMRC registrations and ongoing monthly accounting. Everything is itemised and agreed before you commit. No hourly rates, no surprise invoices after the fact.
Company formed and Xero connected
Companies House registration, HMRC notifications and Xero setup are handled. Your bank feeds connect automatically, your invoice templates are ready, and your registered office is in place. You provide the information once — the rest is handled.
Trade with your compliance in order
Your deadlines are tracked, your records are current and your accountant is available when questions come up. Which means you can focus on the business rather than the administration surrounding it. That is, frankly, the way it should be.
“Daniel was very helpful and patient with me when I had no clue what to do and spoke through everything with me and made it clear, couldn’t recommend him enough, thank you again.”
Things people usually ask before starting
Do I actually need a limited company, or would sole trader work better for my situation?
It depends on your turnover, your risk exposure and how you want to extract profit. At lower turnovers the tax saving from going limited is often smaller than people expect once you factor in the additional compliance costs. The discovery call covers this properly — the answer differs depending on whether you are a contractor, a growing service business or a property investor, and there is no single right answer that applies to everyone.
What does the fixed monthly fee actually include for a new limited company?
The Start package from £79 per month includes the Companies House registration, year-end accounts, Corporation Tax return and email support. VAT filing, payroll and Self Assessment are add-ons at that tier, or included in higher packages from £195 per month. Every quote is written down and agreed before you start, so you know exactly what is and is not covered. The first three months are currently 50% off.
My company is already registered but the books are a mess. Can you still help?
Catch-up bookkeeping is a regular part of onboarding. Most new clients arrive with records in some state of disarray — transactions uncategorised, VAT not reconciled, payroll run outside any system. The catch-up cost depends on how far back the records go and how much information is available, but it is quoted upfront. Once the backlog is cleared, the monthly process runs cleanly going forward.
Is there a minimum contract or lock-in period?
There is no long-term contract. The arrangement is rolling monthly. If you decide to move on, you give notice and your files are transferred cleanly — Companies House agent codes released, Xero access handed over, final accounts completed to the date of departure. Nothing is held back.
Can you act as registered office for my new company?
Yes. The registered office service means all statutory correspondence from Companies House and HMRC is directed to a professional address rather than your home. This is included as part of the company secretarial service and means official letters are dealt with promptly rather than sitting unopened.
How soon after incorporating do I need to register for Corporation Tax?
HMRC requires notification within three months of starting to trade — not within three months of incorporation, which catches some directors out. The registration is handled as part of onboarding, so the deadline does not become your problem. Missing it results in an automatic penalty, which is avoidable when the process is managed properly from the start.
