Sound familiar?

Still not sure what your tax bill is going to be?

A lot of Newton Abbot business owners manage their accounts reactively. The Self Assessment comes around and the scramble starts. VAT thresholds creep up unnoticed. Questions pile up with no clear answers. None of it is unusual, and most of it is avoidable when the right systems are in place.

  • No clear picture of what you owe HMRC until it is urgent
  • Books behind, with year-end looming and records in disarray
  • Accountant slow to respond, leaving questions unanswered for days

What sorted looks like

Your compliance runs on schedule, your numbers are visible, and you have an accountant who picks up the phone. That is roughly it.

  • Tax position visible throughout the year, no year-end surprises
  • Books current and tidy, catch-up handled if you are starting behind
  • Questions answered the day you ask, in plain English
  • Fixed monthly fee agreed upfront, no surprise invoices

Why DG Accountancy

What makes the difference for Newton Abbot businesses

There are plenty of accountants. Fewer who reply the same day, explain things without jargon, and have worked across enough industries to already understand how your business operates.

🎯

Twenty Years Across Real Industries

Daniel has worked in airlines, construction, manufacturing and entertainment — which means he has seen the financial pressures that diverse businesses actually face. You will not need to explain the basics before getting a useful answer. That breadth translates into advice grounded in how businesses genuinely operate, not just how they look on a balance sheet.

Questions Answered the Day You Ask

Slow responses from an accountant are a specific kind of frustrating. DG Accountancy is known for replying promptly and keeping clients informed. You will not find yourself chasing a simple answer for three days. If something changes with your tax position, you will hear about it before it becomes a problem.

☁️

Fully Online, Entirely Accessible

Everything runs through Xero — bank feeds connected, records updated in real time, reports available when you need them. There are no office visits required and no paper files. For Newton Abbot businesses, that means accountancy that fits around how you actually work, not the other way around.

Getting started

Up and running in four steps

Most new clients are fully onboarded within a week. The process is straightforward and the early admin is handled largely on our side.

1

Book a free discovery call

A short conversation about your business, your current set-up, and what you need from an accountant. No sales pitch — just an honest discussion about whether we are the right fit for you.

2

Receive your fixed-fee quote

You will get a clear, written quote tailored to your business structure and the services you need. Everything is agreed upfront, so you know exactly what you are paying before anything starts.

3

Onboarding and cloud setup

We set up or tidy your Xero account, connect your bank feeds, and gather what we need. If your books are behind, we handle the catch-up. Most clients are fully onboarded within a week.

4

Compliance sorted, growth supported

Your returns are filed on schedule, your books are current, and you have an accountant who answers questions when they come up. Less admin on your plate, and considerably less to worry about.

“I worked with Daniel at DG Accountancy to review and sign off my sole trader accounts for a time-sensitive mortgage application, and the service was excellent. Daniel was extremely responsive, clear, and professional throughout. He understood exactly what the lender required, turned everything around very quickly without cutting corners. Communication was straightforward and reassuring, which made a potentially stressful part of the mortgage process much easier.”

Questions

A few things Newton Abbot clients usually ask

I run a local business in Newton Abbot — do I need to come into an office?+

No office visits required. DG Accountancy operates as a fully online practice — all services are delivered via Xero, video calls and secure file sharing. Clients across Devon and the wider UK receive the same consistent service regardless of location. For most businesses, there is no practical difference between working with a local accountant and working with one online.

What does it cost, and what exactly is included?+

Pricing is a fixed monthly fee agreed upfront, tailored to your business structure and what you need. Limited company packages start from £79 per month, with sole trader packages from £41 per month. There are no hidden hourly rates and no surprise invoices at year-end. You will receive a written quote before committing to anything.

My books are in a bit of a state — is that a problem when switching?+

It is not unusual. Most clients arrive with books that need some attention, whether that is a few months behind or a full year of catch-up work. We assess what is needed at the outset and include it in the quote before starting. You will know what the catch-up costs before any work begins.

Is there a minimum contract or lock-in period?+

There is no long-term contract. If after three months you decide it is not working, you leave with clean, up-to-date books and nothing further owed. The intention is to earn your continued business through the quality of the service, not through contractual obligation.

Can you handle both my Self Assessment and my limited company accounts?+

Yes. For limited company directors, managing both the company accounts and the director’s personal Self Assessment through the same accountant avoids duplication and ensures the two filings are consistent with each other. Both are included in the relevant packages, and dividend planning is reviewed as part of the process.

How far in advance will I know what my tax bill is going to be?+

With current bookkeeping in place, your tax position is visible throughout the year rather than only at year-end. For limited companies, Corporation Tax liability is estimated well ahead of the payment deadline. For sole traders, Self Assessment liability is calculated once the tax year closes, giving you time to plan before the January deadline.
