Sound familiar?

Still not sure what your tax bill will be?

Most London small business owners know they need an accountant but end up with one who is hard to reach, sends cryptic emails and files returns without explaining anything. The compliance gets done, just about, but there is no clarity on what you owe, when you owe it, or whether you are structured sensibly. That is a reasonable amount of financial uncertainty to carry around.

  • ✕ Tax bills arriving as surprises rather than planned-for figures
  • ✕ Accountant unreachable for days when you have a straightforward question
  • ✕ No visibility on profit, cash flow or what the business actually owes HMRC

What sorted looks like

Good accounting for a London small business is not complicated. It is current books, a visible tax position, and an accountant who replies. That is the standard DG Accountancy holds itself to.

  • ✓ Your tax position is visible month to month — no year-end shock
  • ✓ Questions get answered the day you ask them, in plain English
  • ✓ Monthly Xero bookkeeping means you always know where the business stands
  • ✓ Fixed monthly fee agreed upfront — no surprise bills or hidden hourly rates

Why DG Accountancy

Why London small businesses choose DG Accountancy

There are plenty of accountants. Here is what actually makes the difference when you are running a business and need answers quickly.

🎯

Twenty Years, Multiple Industries

Daniel has worked across airlines, construction, manufacturing and entertainment — which means most small business problems are not new to him. You get the benefit of that breadth without paying for a City firm. A London tech startup and a sole trader tradesperson have different pressures, and he already knows what they are.

Questions Answered the Same Day

DG Accountancy is built around being reachable. If you send a question during business hours, you get an answer that day — not a holding reply and a callback three days later. For busy business owners, that responsiveness has a real practical value.

☁️

Fully Online, No Location Barrier

Everything runs through Xero, secure file sharing and video calls. You do not need to be in the same postcode as your accountant to get good service — which is, frankly, how it should have always worked. London clients get the same level of personal attention as anyone else.

Getting started

Up and running in four steps

Most new clients are fully onboarded within a week. The process is straightforward and the bulk of the work is on our side.

1

Book a free discovery call

A short conversation about your business, your current set-up and what you actually need from an accountant. No sales pitch — just an honest assessment of whether it is a good fit.

2

Receive your fixed-fee quote

You get a clear, written quote based on your business structure and the services you need. Everything is agreed before anything is signed. No surprises later.

3

Onboarding and Xero setup

We set up your Xero account or tidy up your existing one, connect bank feeds and gather what we need from you. Most clients are fully onboarded within a week and there is very little required from your side.

4

Compliance runs, you focus on growth

From here, your books are current, your tax position is visible, and your filing obligations are handled. You have an accountant who replies quickly and explains things in plain English. Considerably less to think about than before.

Questions

A few things London small business owners ask

I am based in London — does working with an accountant in Torquay actually work?+

Yes, without any meaningful friction. All services are delivered online through Xero, secure document sharing and video calls. There is no reason your accountant needs to be in the same city — and the London firms that charge three times the rate for the same work would agree, even if they would rather you did not notice. Every client interaction happens by phone, email or video, and response times do not depend on geography.

What does it cost for a London small business, and what is included?+

Pricing is fixed monthly and agreed upfront, so there are no surprise bills or hourly rates that accumulate. Limited company packages start from £79 per month and sole trader packages from £41 per month, with a 50% discount for the first three months. What is included depends on your package — from year-end accounts and corporation tax at entry level through to management accounts, cash flow forecasting and quarterly tax planning at higher tiers. A free quote will set out exactly what you get.

My books are in a bit of a state. Is that a problem when switching?+

It is common, not exceptional. Most clients arrive with records that need some degree of catch-up work. That gets assessed as part of onboarding and priced transparently before any work begins. The catch-up is treated as a one-off piece of work, and once it is done, the monthly routine takes over. You will not be judged for the state of the books — sorting that out is largely the point.

Am I locked into a long contract?+

No. There is no long-term contract. Services run on a monthly basis and you can leave with reasonable notice. The expectation is that the service earns its place each month through responsiveness and quality, not through contractual friction. If it is not working, you leave with clean books and nothing owed beyond the current period.

Can you help me decide whether to stay a sole trader or set up a limited company?+

Yes, and it is a question worth asking properly rather than defaulting to whatever seems simpler. The answer depends on your profit level, how you want to take income, your exposure to liability and your growth plans. Daniel has worked through this with sole traders and limited company directors across many sectors and can give you a straight answer based on your actual numbers rather than a generic comparison.

How far ahead will I know my tax bill?+

With current bookkeeping in place, your corporation tax or self assessment liability is visible well before the filing deadline — typically months in advance. That means you can plan your cash flow around the payment rather than receiving a bill you were not expecting. Proactively flagging the tax position before it becomes urgent is part of the service, not an add-on.
