Sound familiar?
VAT compliance eating time you do not have?
For most business owners, VAT sits somewhere between a quarterly nuisance and a genuine source of anxiety. The rules change, the deadlines do not move, and Making Tax Digital has added another layer of administration on top of everything else. Getting it wrong costs money. Getting it late costs more.
- ✕ Quarterly deadlines creeping up with records still unreconciled
- ✕ Not certain whether your current VAT scheme is actually the right one
- ✕ MTD submissions treated as a last-minute scramble rather than a process
What having it handled looks like
Your VAT is filed on time, on the right scheme, with records that are current before the deadline arrives — not the night before. No scrambling, no second-guessing, no HMRC correspondence sitting in a drawer.
- ✓ VAT returns prepared and submitted well ahead of each deadline
- ✓ Your VAT scheme reviewed so you are not overpaying unnecessarily
- ✓ MTD-compliant records maintained through Xero throughout the quarter
- ✓ Fixed monthly fee agreed upfront — no surprise bills at quarter-end
What Wolverley clients say about us
Clients come to DG Accountancy when deadlines matter and accuracy is not optional. Here is what two of them said.
I worked with Daniel at DG Accountancy to review and sign off my sole trader accounts for a time-sensitive mortgage application, and the service was excellent. Daniel was extremely responsive, clear, and professional throughout. He understood exactly what the lender required, turned everything around very quickly without cutting corners. Communication was straightforward and reassuring, which made a potentially stressful part of the mortgage process much easier. Fees were transparent, turnaround was fast, and the work was done thoroughly and accurately. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Daniel to anyone needing reliable accountancy support, particularly where deadlines really matter.
Absolutely recommend Daniel for all and any accounts related matter. Would use his expertise again. He is the most amazing person, very professional, explaining every detail meticulously in order to finalise our accounts. A huge thank you Daniel.
VAT compliance, covered end to end
From registration through to quarterly filing and MTD, VAT obligations are handled accurately and on time — so you spend your time on the business, not the admin.
Quarterly VAT Returns Filed
Your VAT return is prepared from reconciled records and submitted to HMRC before the deadline — every quarter, without chasing. If there are anomalies, reclaim opportunities or scheme considerations worth flagging, they get raised before the return goes in.
Included from Operate tierMaking Tax Digital Compliance
MTD for VAT requires digital record-keeping and direct submission through compatible software. DG Accountancy runs everything through Xero, so your records are MTD-ready as a matter of course — not a retrofit at deadline time.
Included as standardVAT Registration and Scheme Advice
Whether you are approaching the threshold, considering voluntary registration, or unsure whether the Flat Rate or Annual Accounting Scheme would work better for your business, that is exactly the kind of question worth asking before the decision is forced. You will get a straight answer.
Included in fixed feeConsistent feedback across every type of client
Sole traders, limited companies, contractors and property owners — the experience tends to be the same: clear, fast and considerably less painful than expected.

What makes the difference on VAT
VAT compliance is largely the same from one accountant to the next — until something goes wrong. The difference is in the detail, the speed of response, and whether your accountant spots a problem before HMRC does.
Twenty Years Across Real Businesses
Daniel has handled VAT across airlines, construction, manufacturing and entertainment — industries with genuinely different VAT treatments, partial exemption considerations and scheme structures. That breadth means your specific situation is unlikely to be unfamiliar. You will not need to explain how your business works before getting a useful answer.
Questions Answered the Day You Ask
VAT questions tend to arrive at inconvenient moments — a new contract, a large purchase, a letter from HMRC. DG Accountancy is known for fast replies, so you are not left waiting days for clarity on something time-sensitive. You ask, you get an answer, you move on.
MTD-Ready Without the Extra Effort
Everything runs through Xero, which means your records are digitally linked and MTD-compliant as a matter of routine. There is no separate MTD setup, no bolt-on software, and no scramble to comply before each filing window. It is simply how the books are kept.
Up and running in four straightforward steps
Most clients are fully onboarded within a week. The process is designed to require as little from you as possible — particularly at the start.
Book a free discovery call
A short conversation about your business, your current VAT situation and what you need from an accountant. No sales pitch — just an honest discussion about whether this is a good fit.
Receive your fixed-fee quote
A clear, written quote covering exactly what is included. The fee is agreed upfront, so there are no invoices appearing after the return goes in.
Onboarding and Xero setup
DG Accountancy sets up or tidies your Xero account, connects your bank feeds, and ensures your records are MTD-compliant from the start. Most clients are onboarded within a week.
VAT handled every quarter
Your returns are prepared from current records and submitted on time, every quarter. If something warrants your attention between deadlines — a threshold, a scheme change, a reclaim opportunity — you will hear about it without having to ask.
“Professional service. This company does my accounts every year and i never have to worry about it. Speedy as well. I am a very happy customer.”
What people usually ask about VAT
Do you handle VAT for businesses with more complex arrangements — partial exemption, reverse charge or multiple VAT schemes?
Yes. VAT is rarely straightforward for businesses operating across different income types or sectors. Construction reverse charge, partial exemption calculations, and the choice between standard, flat rate and annual accounting schemes are all covered. If your VAT position has any nuance, it is worth discussing during the discovery call rather than assuming a standard return will suffice.
What does VAT compliance cost and what is included in the fee?
VAT filing is included from the Operate package (from £195 per month) and available as an add-on to the Start package. The fee covers quarterly return preparation, MTD-compliant submission and ongoing scheme advice. Everything is agreed in writing before any work begins — no additional charge per return, no surprise invoices.
My VAT records are behind or inconsistent. Can you still help?
That is a fairly common starting point. Catch-up work is carried out before the ongoing service begins, and the cost is agreed upfront once the scale of the catch-up is assessed. There is no judgment involved — the books are tidied, the submissions are brought current, and the ongoing service starts from a clean position.
Is there a long-term contract?
No. DG Accountancy operates on a monthly basis with no minimum-term commitment. If the arrangement is not working, you give notice and leave with your records in good order. The aim is that the service is good enough that leaving does not come up — but the option is always there.
Do you handle VAT registration if I am approaching the threshold?
Yes. If your turnover is approaching the VAT registration threshold, it is worth having the conversation early — not when you have already crossed it. DG Accountancy monitors your position and handles the registration process with HMRC if and when it becomes necessary, including advice on whether voluntary registration might be beneficial before you reach the compulsory point.
How far in advance will I know what my VAT liability is each quarter?
Because records are maintained through Xero on an ongoing basis rather than compiled at deadline time, your VAT position is visible throughout the quarter. By the time the return is due, there should be no surprises — you will already have a clear picture of what is owed.
