Accountant in Shiphay

Accountant in Shiphay

Your Shiphay accountant, available when you need one.

Most small business owners in Shiphay are not looking for an accountant who is hard to reach and slow to explain things. If your books need attention, your tax bill is unclear, or you have simply outgrown doing it yourself, there is a straightforward fix. Fixed monthly fee, ACCA-qualified, and questions answered the day you ask them.

  • Know your tax position months before the deadline arrives
  • Books reconciled and current, not just at year end
  • VAT obligations monitored so nothing catches you off guard
  • One accountant throughout, not a different person each time

No long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with clean books and nothing owed.

Sound familiar?

Still not sure what your tax bill is this year?

Running a business in Shiphay means your time goes on the actual work, not on reconciling bank feeds or checking whether you have crossed the VAT threshold. Most people come to an accountant when something has already gone wrong or is about to. That is a reasonable time to start, but it is not the most comfortable one.

  • Tax bill arrives as a surprise rather than a figure you planned for
  • Records are behind and year end is closer than you would like
  • Not sure whether your current setup — sole trader or limited — is the right one

What sorted looks like

When your compliance is handled and your numbers are visible month to month, you spend considerably less time worrying about HMRC and considerably more time running the business. That is the practical outcome, not a promise.

  • Tax liability calculated and visible well before payment is due
  • Books up to date and reconciled, with no year-end scramble
  • Straightforward advice on your structure, in plain English, with the numbers to back it up
  • One fixed monthly fee, agreed upfront, no unexpected invoices

What Shiphay clients say about working with us

Clients come from a range of backgrounds — sole traders, limited company directors and self-employed professionals — and most arrive with at least one thing that needs tidying up.

★★★★★

I worked with Daniel at DG Accountancy to review and sign off my sole trader accounts for a time-sensitive mortgage application, and the service was excellent. Daniel was extremely responsive, clear, and professional throughout. He understood exactly what the lender required, turned everything around very quickly without cutting corners. Communication was straightforward and reassuring, which made a potentially stressful part of the mortgage process much easier. Fees were transparent, turnaround was fast, and the work was done thoroughly and accurately. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Daniel to anyone needing reliable accountancy support, particularly where deadlines really matter.

Why DG Accountancy

Why clients in Shiphay choose us over a local high street firm

There are several accountants in and around Torquay. The reasons clients stay tend to come down to three things.

Questions Answered the Same Day

Waiting three days for a reply to a simple question is not acceptable when you are trying to run a business. DG Accountancy is known specifically for fast, clear responses — not because it is promised, but because the reviews say so. You ask, you get an answer.

🎯

Twenty Years Across Multiple Sectors

Daniel has worked in airlines, construction, manufacturing and entertainment — industries with very different accounting challenges. That breadth means he understands how businesses actually work, not just how to file their returns. You will not need to explain your industry before getting a useful answer.

💬

Plain English, Not Accountant Jargon

Every figure, every obligation and every option is explained in language that makes sense. No cryptic emails. No acronyms dropped without context. If you leave a conversation unsure what just happened, that is a problem worth fixing — and it will not happen here.

Getting started

Up and running in four straightforward steps

Most clients are fully onboarded within a week. The process is designed to take as little of your time as possible.

1

Book a free discovery call

A short call to talk through your business, your current setup and what you actually need. No sales pitch. At the end of the call you will know whether we are the right fit and what happens next.

2

Receive your fixed-fee quote

A clear, written quote tailored to your business structure and the services you need. Everything is agreed upfront. There are no hidden extras and no hourly rates that compound when something takes longer than expected.

3

Onboarding and cloud setup

Your Xero account is set up or tidied up, bank feeds are connected and any outstanding records are brought up to date. You do not need to do much at this stage — the heavy lifting is handled.

4

Compliance handled, you focus forward

Deadlines are met, records are current and your tax position is visible. When something changes in your business or in tax law that affects you, you hear about it before it becomes a problem.

Questions

Things people usually ask before getting started

I am based in Shiphay — does that matter if everything is online?+

Not at all. DG Accountancy operates as a fully online practice, so your location within Torquay or anywhere else in the UK makes no practical difference. Everything is handled through Xero, secure file sharing and video calls. You get the same service as any client on the books.

What does the monthly fee actually include?+

That depends on which package suits your business, but the pricing is fixed, written and agreed before anything starts. Most packages for limited companies include year-end accounts, corporation tax, VAT returns and self assessment. Sole trader packages start from £41 per month. There is a 50 per cent discount on the monthly fee for the first three months, and there are no hidden hourly rates.

My books are behind — is that a problem?+

It is a common situation and not a reason to delay. Catch-up bookkeeping is handled as part of onboarding. The state of your records at the start is noted and priced accordingly so there are no surprise invoices. Most clients are fully up to date within the first week.

Is there a minimum contract or tie-in period?+

No long-term contract is required. If the arrangement is not working after three months, you are free to leave and your books will be clean and complete before you go. The aim is to earn the work each month, not to lock you in.

Do you handle both sole trader and limited company clients?+

Yes. Whether you are a sole trader filing your first self assessment or a limited company director managing payroll, VAT and management accounts, the service is structured to match. If you are considering whether to incorporate, that conversation can happen as part of the initial call — with the numbers rather than a general opinion.

When will I actually know what my tax bill is going to be?+

Well before HMRC asks for it. Tax liability is calculated as part of ongoing compliance, not assembled in a rush before the deadline. If your bill is going to be significant, you will have months to plan for it rather than days.

Ready when you are

Stop putting off the books. Start with a conversation.

A free discovery call takes twenty minutes. You will leave it knowing exactly what the fee would be, what is included and what happens next. No obligation beyond that.
