Business Planning Torbay
A clear plan for your business, built on real numbers.
Most Torbay business owners know roughly where they want to go but are working from instinct rather than a financial plan. That gap between ambition and visibility is where things go wrong. DG Accountancy provides structured business planning, cash flow forecasting and financial projections on a fixed monthly fee, with an ACCA-qualified accountant who replies the same day.
- Know your cash position weeks ahead, not days after
- A written plan your bank or investor will actually accept
- Tax implications built into projections from the start
- Plain-English explanations — no decoding required
No long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with a clean set of books and nothing owed.

Sound familiar?
Running on gut feeling instead of a plan?
Most small business owners in Torbay are making decisions — hiring, investing, taking on debt — without a financial model to test them against. It is not laziness. It is that building a proper plan takes time and skills most people reasonably do not have. The result is a business that grows, or does not, largely by accident.
- No cash flow forecast — surprises arrive when the bank balance does
- Lenders or investors asking for projections you cannot produce quickly
- Tax bills landing at year-end with no budget set aside to cover them
What a proper plan looks like
Business planning with DG Accountancy means a working financial model — cash flow, profit projections and tax position — built from your actual numbers and updated as things change. Not a template. Not a one-off document that ages in a drawer.
- Cash flow monitored monthly so shortfalls appear weeks before they hit
- Investor-ready projections and written plans produced when you need them
- Corporation Tax and income tax factored into your plan from day one
- Fixed monthly fee agreed upfront — no surprise bills mid-project
What Torbay business owners say
Clients range from sole traders filing their first return to limited companies with complex finances. The feedback tends to cover the same ground: clear, fast, and no jargon.
Absolutely recommend Daniel for all and any accounts related matter. Would use his expertise again. He is the most amazing person, very professional, explaining every detail meticulously in order to finalise our accounts. A huge thank you Daniel.
I worked with Daniel at DG Accountancy to review and sign off my sole trader accounts for a time-sensitive mortgage application, and the service was excellent. Daniel was extremely responsive, clear, and professional throughout. He understood exactly what the lender required, turned everything around very quickly without cutting corners. Communication was straightforward and reassuring, which made a potentially stressful part of the mortgage process much easier. Fees were transparent, turnaround was fast, and the work was done thoroughly and accurately. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Daniel to anyone needing reliable accountancy support, particularly where deadlines really matter.

His knowledge in tax law and what can be used for expenses really helped with saving money where I could. As a sole trader it’s really hard to keep on top of things and have now asked Dan to do monthly books for me. His rates are extremely good compared to some other accountants out there and I get more for my money.”

What makes the difference for Torbay businesses
There are plenty of accountants in Devon. Fewer who combine genuine cross-sector experience with fast responses and a willingness to explain things properly.
Twenty years across real industries
Daniel has worked in finance across airlines, construction, manufacturing and entertainment — sectors with very different planning cycles, cost structures and cash dynamics. That background means he can build a plan that reflects how your kind of business actually works, not a generic model lifted from a textbook. You will not spend the first hour of every conversation explaining your industry.
Questions answered the day you ask
Business planning involves decisions that cannot always wait until next week. DG Accountancy is built around same-day responses during office hours, so when something changes — a new contract, an unexpected cost, a funding opportunity — you get a useful answer quickly. There is no queue of juniors to pass through.
Plans built from live Xero data
Forecasts are only as good as the numbers they are built on. Because bookkeeping runs through Xero, your projections draw on real, current figures rather than last year’s spreadsheet. When actuals change, the forecast updates — so you are always working from a picture that reflects where the business is, not where it was six months ago.
Up and running in four straightforward steps
Most clients are fully onboarded within a week. The process is designed to take as little of your time as possible.
Book a free discovery call
A short conversation about your business, what you are planning, and what you need from an accountant. No sales pressure — just an honest assessment of whether DG Accountancy is the right fit for you. You will leave the call knowing exactly what happens next.
Receive your fixed-fee quote
A clear, written quote based on your business structure and the services you need. Everything is agreed upfront — no hourly rates, no scope creep, no invoices that arrive larger than expected.
Onboarding and cloud setup
Your Xero account is set up or tidied, bank feeds connected, and existing data reviewed. If there is catch-up work needed, Daniel handles it. Most clients are fully onboarded within a week, with very little required from them.
Your plan running on current numbers
From here, your cash flow forecast, projections and financial plan update from live data. Compliance runs quietly in the background. You get proactive advice when something warrants it — and considerably less to think about the rest of the time.
“Daniel was very helpful and patient with me when I had no clue what to do and spoke through everything with me and made it clear, couldn’t recommend him enough, thank you again.”
Things people usually want to know
Can you help with a business plan for a bank loan or investor pitch in Torbay?
Yes. Producing financial projections and written business plans for funding purposes is a regular part of the work here. Daniel will review what the lender or investor requires and build the projections to match — including the assumptions, sensitivities and supporting narrative they typically expect to see. The turnaround is fast when there is a deadline involved.
What does business planning support cost, and what is included?
Ongoing business planning — cash flow forecasting, management accounts and budgeting — is included in the Grow and Scale monthly packages, which start from £395 and £695 per month respectively, with 50% off for the first three months. One-off projections for funding applications are quoted on a fixed-fee basis upfront. Nothing is billed on an hourly rate.
My books are in a mess. Can you still help with planning?
Fairly common situation. Before any meaningful forecasting can happen, the underlying numbers need to be clean — so the first step is usually a catch-up bookkeeping exercise. Daniel will quote for that separately, at a fixed fee, so there are no surprises. Once the books are in order, building a reliable plan from them is straightforward.
Is there a long-term contract?
No. Monthly packages run on a rolling basis with a standard notice period. If the arrangement is not working, you leave with your books, your Xero data and nothing outstanding. The intention is to earn ongoing work by being useful, not to hold anyone in place contractually.
How often will the cash flow forecast be updated?
It depends on which package you are on. Grow clients receive quarterly management accounts including cash flow; Scale clients receive monthly management accounts with a 13-week rolling cash flow model. If something material changes mid-period — a large contract, an unexpected cost — Daniel can update the model outside the normal cycle.
Will the business plan account for my tax position, including dividends?
Yes. For limited company directors, the plan will factor in Corporation Tax, any salary and dividend strategy, and personal tax liability. There is little point in projecting revenue growth if the tax implications are not built in from the start — that tends to be how businesses end up with bills they were not expecting.
