Online Accountant UK

Cloud accounting that actually works, sorted.

Most business owners searching for an online accountant want the same thing: books that are current, tax that is visible, and someone who answers when they have a question. DG Accountancy works through Xero rather than QuickBooks — fixed monthly fees, ACCA-qualified, and same-day replies during office hours.

  • Your books kept current every month, no year-end scramble
  • VAT threshold monitored — no surprise registration obligations
  • Tax bill known well in advance, not the week it is due
  • One accountant throughout, not a rotation of unfamiliar faces

No long-term contract. If it is not working after three months, you leave with clean books and nothing owed.

Sound familiar?

Still logging in somewhere hoping it all makes sense?

Cloud accounting platforms are useful tools. They are not, on their own, accountants. Many business owners end up with bank feeds connected, transactions uncategorised, and a vague sense that something is probably wrong. The software does not tell you when you have crossed the VAT threshold, missed a filing deadline, or left money on the table at year-end.

  • Bank feed connected but transactions sitting uncategorised for months
  • No clear view of what your actual tax liability is this year
  • VAT deadlines, Corporation Tax and Self Assessment all managed manually

What a properly managed cloud setup looks like

The platform is just one part of it. The other part is an ACCA-qualified accountant who reviews, reconciles and reports on a regular schedule — so your numbers reflect reality and your obligations are handled before they become problems.

  • Books reconciled monthly — every transaction categorised and accounted for
  • Tax position reviewed regularly, so your bill is never a surprise
  • VAT, Corporation Tax and Self Assessment filed on time, every time
  • Fixed monthly fee agreed upfront — no surprise invoices at year-end

Huge thanks to Daniel for helping ourselves with our taxes! Being self employed means we all have to do this ourselves which is just not possible on top of our work load. Thanks again! We will be using you again!

Why DG Accountancy

What makes the difference in practice

There are plenty of online accountants. The distinction tends to show up in the detail — how quickly you hear back, how clearly things are explained, and whether the advice goes beyond the compliance minimum.

☁️

Xero, set up properly from the start

Many businesses have a cloud accounting platform connected but not configured correctly — wrong chart of accounts, bank rules misfiring, VAT codes applied inconsistently. The setup matters as much as the software. Everything is reviewed and corrected at onboarding, so you are not building on a shaky foundation.

Questions answered the day you ask

DG Accountancy is built around responsiveness. You will not send a query on a Tuesday and hear back the following week. During office hours, same-day replies are the standard, not the exception. For business owners making time-sensitive decisions, that matters considerably.

🎯

20 years of cross-sector experience

Daniel has worked in airlines, construction, manufacturing and entertainment — which means he has seen a wide range of business structures, tax positions and accounting problems before you walk in with yours. You get seasoned judgement, not a junior accountant learning on your time.

Getting started

Up and running in four straightforward steps

Most clients are fully onboarded within a week. The process is designed so that most of the work falls on our side, not yours.

1

Book a free discovery call

A short call to understand your business, your current set-up and what you need. No sales pitch — just an honest conversation about whether we are the right fit and what that would cost.

2

Receive your fixed-fee quote

A clear, written quote tailored to your business structure and the services you need. Everything agreed upfront — no hourly rates, no end-of-year surprises, no vague estimates.

3

Onboarding and Xero setup

We set up your Xero account, or review and tidy your existing one, connect bank feeds and gather everything required. You provide access; we do the configuration. Most clients are fully onboarded within a week.

4

Compliance handled, focus on growth

From here, your books are reconciled, your filings go in on time, and your tax position is visible. When questions come up, you get a same-day answer from the same accountant who knows your business.

Questions

Things people usually ask before getting started

I have been using QuickBooks — do you work with that platform?+

DG Accountancy works primarily through Xero rather than QuickBooks. If you are currently on QuickBooks, the migration to Xero is straightforward and handled as part of onboarding. Xero is the platform of choice here because of its bank feed reliability, MTD compliance and app integrations — but the transition from QuickBooks is well-trodden and does not require you to re-enter historical data manually.

What does it cost and what is actually included?+

All fees are fixed monthly amounts agreed before you sign anything. Limited company packages run from £79 per month (Start tier) through to £695 per month (Scale tier), with a 50% discount for the first three months. Sole trader packages start from £41 per month. Every package includes year-end accounts, Corporation Tax or Self Assessment as relevant, and a dedicated accountant. The written quote you receive sets out exactly what is covered — nothing is added later without agreement.

My books are in a bit of a state. Is that a problem?+

Not an unusual situation. Most new clients arrive with records that need some degree of catch-up work, whether that is a few months behind or closer to a full year. Catch-up bookkeeping is scoped and priced separately from the ongoing monthly fee so you know what it will cost before work begins. Once the backlog is cleared, the monthly schedule keeps things current going forward.

Is there a minimum contract or a lock-in period?+

There is no long-term contract. Monthly rolling arrangements are the default. If it is not working — for any reason — you give notice and leave with your records and Xero data intact. The goal is that the service is worth staying for, not that leaving is difficult.

What does Making Tax Digital mean for my business right now?+

MTD for VAT is already mandatory for all VAT-registered businesses. MTD for Income Tax (MTD ITSA) is being phased in for sole traders and landlords from April 2026 onward, starting with those earning over £50,000. All DG Accountancy clients are set up on Xero from the outset, which means MTD compliance is built into the process rather than something to retrofit later.

Will I actually know what my tax bill is before HMRC asks for it?+

Yes, that is one of the more practical benefits of keeping books current throughout the year rather than reconciling everything in January. From the Operate tier upward, your tax position is reviewed at least annually as part of the service — and quarterly from the Grow tier. You will know your liability well in advance of the payment deadline, which makes cash flow planning considerably more straightforward.

Ready when you are

Books current, tax visible, considerably less to worry about.

Fixed monthly fees, ACCA-qualified, Xero Bronze Partner. A free discovery call costs nothing and takes twenty minutes — you will know exactly what happens next before you leave it.
